(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that Dr. Donald Berwick, re-nominated this week by President Obama to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is qualified to oversee a nationwide health care system in England or Sweden.
“I think Don Berwick would be a great head of health care in maybe England or Sweden or something,” Paul, an ophthalmologist, told CNSNews.com about Berwick, a pediatrician. “He said he admires the British system, so I think maybe we should nominate him to be head of the British system. In America, we have always thought a little bit differently.”

Intellectual Lightweight Ed Schultz Claims Boehner, Not Obama, Ignorant Of American Exceptionalism

Ed "Sergeant" Schultz Gets It Wrong Every Time
The odds are that Ed Schultz should get his analysis somewhat correct every once in a while, but time and again this vacuous intellect is one hundred and eighty degrees out of phase with whatever he is analyzing. He makes the claim that Barack Obama understands American exceptionalism while ignoring the fact that every program that Obama presents is designed to make people more dependent on government and less on themselves. If a person truly believes in "American Exceptionalism", wouldn't you promote programs that allow individuals the chance to succeed or fail on their own, with minimal government interference. You wouldn't promote redistribution of wealth. You would have faith that people are able to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. Sure, there need to be some safety nets built in, but they should be finite and of short duration. Nobody should be in government programs like welfare and food stamps for virtually their entire adult lives.
If Obama believed in "American Exceptionalism" (as well as many politicians on both sides of the aisle), they would cut ALL subsidies - corporate, agricultural, energy - all of them. If you have a good or service that the public wants, let them compete on the free market. Ethanol would have tanked long ago if it were not for government subsidies, as most people don't want to buy an ethanol infused fuel for the same price as a regular fuel, but gets 10-15% less fuel mileage. If they can't compete, let the ethanol producers go out of business. Or improve their product to something the people want, at a price they are willing to pay. But they should not be subsidized on the backs of the American taxpayer.
As usual the doughy-faced one has missed the mark again.

For the 104th time since taking office, President Barack Obama has vowed to focus like a laser beam on the economy. Channeling his inner Edison, he said "We're going to build stuff and invent stuff". I wonder if that means we can throw out those environmentally unsafe, and mercury-laden, dim compact florescent light bulbs and start buying those Thomas Edison incandescent lights again?
Obama named General Electric CEO and Chairman Jeffrey Immelt to head a new Council on Jobs and Competitiveness in his latest conciliatory gesture to the business sector following a Republican mid-term election rout.

There are still going to be some that will fall for his canned lines, his speech cadence, and his on-cue smile, but many more have become disilluioned by his "promises", and now see him through a more jaded lens.
Notice also, that the media is starting to run these polls and puff pieces before they even know who is going to be running, or who will be the nominee. The only thing certain is that the media will run positive pieces on who they want to run against Obama, quoting RINO Republicans to bolster their case. Once that person gets the nomination though, the media will "discover" how "radical" they are and savage them in both news and opinion pages across the country right up to the day of the election. The difference is that this time we already see it coming.

The Media Push ForThe "Anointed" One
Though many in the media are not completely happy with "the anointed one", believing he has not been liberal enough (which speaks volumes), they would rather eat broken glass than see a Republican get into office. Thus, we are already starting to see stories and polls of Barack Obama rising from the ashes of the 2010 mid-term "shellacking" that his party took.
There is plenty in this piece to be critical of, but I will comment on only a few of the "12 Reasons" stated:#2 - The authors admit that the mainstream press is biased for this President, speaking of the "gentle treatment" he gets. Keep this in mind when you read all of the puff pieces on him over the next twenty-one-plus months.
#6 - The authors are just downright dishonest on reason #6. Their claim that the economy is improving, using the upswing in the stock market as an example, is naive. At best, the economy is stagnant. Inflation is cutting into people's savings and businesses are still laying people off. They also say that unemployment has dropped, completely ignoring that people have dropped off the unemployment rolls, not because they have found employment, but because they have exhausted all of their benefits, or have given up altogether and have entered the welfare rolls - which are not counted as part of the unemployment numbers.
#8 - Obama the Moderate? How long will the media be able to sell this line? If they consider him a moderate, what must that say about the press in this country? Simply pointing out on a continuous basis the radical leftists in his inner circle, both current and former (Van Jones, anyone?), the radical agenda he has already shoved down the throats of the American public, and his "Green" agenda which he has yet to implement, is going to make it more difficult for him to stay focused and on-message than in 2008.

Liberals have used the statement as proof that Beck is calling on his audience to take up arms against the government. So is he? Was he?
Not even close.
The website Patterico’s Pontifications went in depth to look at the clip and its full context. What it found can only be considered depressing for the liberals and progressives trying to incite anti-Beck anger.

The dumbing down of America -there is no other way it can be put. This study puts an exclamation point on the election of Barack Obama, which many attribute to the "youth vote", in 2008. The ability to think critically is paramount when trying to analyze words and statements, especially when we are bombarded with information from so many sources. Politicians make speeches, filled with "facts", claims, hyperbole, and "promises", all to make voters want to vote for them, or not vote for the other candidate. Without the cognitive ability to sift the realistic fromthe fantastic, the fact from the opinion, we can allow ourselves to be swayed by a person who can be a very compelling speech-giver, but not recognize that there is virtually no substance to the speech. We are taken in by clever, poll-tested slogans. We don't hear what is being said, only how it is being delivered. This is dangerous. Dictators and despots have risen to power on their ability to rally the masses on clever slogans, empty promises, and a seeming ability to "connect" with their followers.
This study highlights a glaring problem in our universities - we are turning out educated idiots. This is not to say that the students themselves are stupid, or incapable of learning. It is that these universities, which are taking tens of thousands of dollars from these students if tuition, fees, books, housing and much more, should be charged with educational malpractice. We have all seen the videos, or read the stories where these "educators" are teaching there opinion on subjects, ridiculing students who disagree with them, and in some cases intimidating students. This is not education. It is re-education. The thing is: Is it intentional?

Many of the students graduated without knowing how to sift fact from opinion, make a clear written argument or objectively review conflicting reports of a situation or event, according to New York University sociologist Richard Arum, lead author of the study. The students, for example, couldn't determine the cause of an increase in neighborhood crime or how best to respond without being swayed by emotional testimony and political spin.

Patrick Moore, the co-founder of the environmental organization Greenpeace, blasted today's environmentalists as being driven by big money and left-wing ideology, resulting in environmental policies which are actually harmful to the environment, and put both humans and nature in jeopardy. Appearing with Stuart Varney on "Varney and Co." on the Fox Business channel, Mr. Moorelaid spoke out against the politicization of the science community, claiming that they are driven by greed, in the form of huge grants, and political goals. He also stated that there are a number of environmentalists who are disturbed by the modern environmental movement, and that it bases much of its "science" on computer models, with which the programming can be manipulated to present pre-determined apocalyptic outcomes. These results are then published and presented to the public as a crisis which needs immediate attention and, of course, lots of money to reverse. He says that today's environmentalists refuse to consider nuclear power as an alternative source of energy, despite the fact it is a clean technology, as a way to wean us off of fossil fuels. I wonder if the mainstream media will pick up on what this man is saying, introducing his message to a wider audience, instead of relegated to a business channel on cable television?

Chris Matthews is obsessed about race, especially when someone on his panel happens to be a minority. Like the white guy who, out of the blue, mentions to every black person they first meet, the name of a prominent black person they like, or that they were into the "Commodores" back in the day. Now, I'm not saying that Chris Matthews is racist. I just find it amazing that he constantly tries to prove that he's not, by these statements he throws out there, which are usually show stoppers, accompanied by nervous laughter and/or groans.

Cohen Defends Comparing Republicans To Nazi's

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) get grilled by CNN's Anderson Cooper about Cohen's comparing Republicans to Nazi's. Cohen, who recently wrote and op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal about getting away from using incendiary rhetoric, bobs and weaves his way through the interview, finally announcing "I was right". Even after being played a clip of Rep. Cohen comparing Tea Partiers to the Ku Klux Klan, he does not back down from either the KKK or the Nazi remarks. This clown is representative of many of those on the left who attack conservatives and Republicans for remarks they deem unsavory or incendiary, some with merit, but who refuse to to take responsibility for their own statements or criticize those on the left who make similar, or in some cases, much worst statements.
I am not particularly offended one way or the other when political rhetoric gets heated. It is just that - rhetoric. I do take some joy out of pointing out the hypocrisy of those individuals who feign outrage, and then partake of the same behavior.
For that matter, AndersonCooper is a bit of a hypocrite in all of this as well. He was one of the first, and possibly the first, to use the sexual perjorative "Tea Bagger" when referring to the Tea Party. Pretty selective outrage by Anderson Cooper, as well.

Cohen, who recently wrote and op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal about getting away from using incendiary rhetoric, bobs and weaves his way through the interview, finally announcing "I was right". Even after being played a clip of Rep. Cohen comparing Tea Partiers to the Ku Klux Klan, he does not back down from either the KKK or the Nazi remarks. This clown is representative of many of those on the left who attack conservatives and Republicans for remarks they deem unsavory or incendiary, some with merit, but who refuse to to take responsibility for their own statements or criticize those on the left who make similar, or in some cases, much worst statements.
I am not particularly offended one way or the other when political rhetoric gets heated. It is just that - rhetoric. I do take some joy out of pointing out the hypocrisy of those individuals who feign outrage, and then partake of the same behavior.
For that matter, AndersonCooper is a bit of a hypocrite in all of this as well. He was one of the first, and possibly the first, to use the sexual perjorative "Tea Bagger" when referring to the Tea Party. Pretty selective outrage by Anderson Cooper, as well.

I wonder how many television hosts and “journalists” tuned in to Sarah Palin’s interview on “Hannity” this week, waiting with bated breath for her to say something they could try to distort. And the more she says “this isn’t about me,” the more they make it about her.
Let’s enter the world of Sarah Palin for a moment.
If she grants interviews to Oprah or Barbara Walters, she’s accused of wanting to be a celebrity. If she denies those interviews, she’s labeled a coward.
If she’s quiet when viciously attacked, she’s accused of hiding. If she speaks up, she’s described as injecting herself into the story.

With all of the media-driven what-if hysteria for everything from "potential" worldwide avian bird flu pandemics, the BP oil spill "environmental disaster", global warming/cooling/climate change, to calls for more "civil discourse" following the shootings in Tuscon, Rahm Emanuel's "never let a crisis go to waste" takes on greater significance. How much of our freedoms are we as American's willing to "voluntarily" cede to a bloated central government, based on notions of fairness, promoted by political elites and echoed by a complicit media? The story below, while humorous, is also frightening due to its complete plausibility.

"Winston, come into the dining room, it's time to eat", Julia yelled to her husband.
"In a minute, honey, it's a tie score", he answered. Actually Winston wasn't very interested in the traditional holiday football game between Detroit and Washington . Ever since the government passed the Civility in Sports Statute of 2017, outlawing tackle football for its unseemly violence and the bad example it sets for the rest of the world, Winston was far less of a football fan than he used to be. Two-hand touch wasn't nearly as exciting.
Yet it wasn't the game that Winston was uninterested in. It was more the thought of eating another Tofu Turkey. Even though it was the best type of Veggie Meat available after the government revised the American Anti-Obesity Act of 2018, adding fowl to the list of federally-forbidden foods, (which already included potatoes, cranberry sauce and mince-meat pie), it wasn't anything like real turkey. And ever since the government officially changed the name of Thanksgiving Day to "A National Day of Atonement" in 2020, to officially acknowledge the Pilgrims historically brutal treatment of Native Americans, the holiday had lost a lot of its luster.
Eating in the dining room was also a bit daunting. The unearthly gleam of government-mandated fluorescent light bulbs made the Tofu Turkey look even weirder than it actually was, and the room was always cold. Ever since Congress passed the Power Conservation Act of 2016, mandating all thermostats, which were monitored and controlled by the electric company, be kept at 68 degrees, every room on the north side of the house was barely tolerable throughout the entire winter.
Still, it was good getting together with family. Or at least most of the family. Winston missed his mother, who passed on in October, when she had used up her legal allotment of live-saving medical treatment. He had had many heated conversations with the Regional Health Consortium, spawned when the private insurance market finally went bankrupt, and everyone was forced into the government health care program. And though he demanded she be kept on her treatment, it was a futile effort. The RHC's resources are limited, explained the government bureaucrat Winston spoke with on the phone. Your mother received all the benefits to which she was entitled. I'm sorry for your loss.
Ed couldn't make it either. He had forgotten to plug in his electric car last night, the only kind available after the Anti-Fossil Fuel Bill of 2021 outlawed the use of the combustion engines for everyone but government officials. The fifty mile round trip was about ten miles too far, and Ed didn't want to spend a frosty night on the road somewhere between here and there.
Thankfully, Winston's brother, John, and his wife were flying in. Winston made sure that the dining room chairs had extra cushions for the occasion. No one complained more than John about the pain of sitting down so soon after the government - mandated cavity searches at airports, which severely aggravated his hemorrhoids.
Ever since a terrorist successfully smuggled a cavity bomb onto a jetliner, the TSA told Americans the added "inconvenience" was an "absolute necessity" in order to stay "one step ahead of the terrorists". Winston's own body had grown accustomed to such probing ever since the government expanded their scope to just about anywhere a crowd gathered, via Anti-Profiling Act of 2022. That law made it a crime to single out any group or individual for "unequal scrutiny", even when probable cause was involved. Thus, cavity searches at malls, train stations, bus depots, etc., etc., had become almost routine. Almost.
The Supreme Court is reviewing the statute, but most Americans expect a Court composed of six progressives and three conservatives to leave the law intact. "A living Constitution is extremely flexible", said the Court's eldest member, Elena Kagan. "Europe has had laws like this one for years. We should learn from their example", she added.
Winston's thoughts turned to his own children. He got along fairly well with his 12-year-old daughter, Brittany, mostly because she ignored him. Winston had long ago surrendered to the idea that she could text anyone at any time, even during Atonement Dinner. Their only real confrontation had occurred when he limited her to 50,000 texts a month, explaining that was all he could afford. She whined for a week, but got over it.
His 16-year-old son, Jason, was another matter altogether. Perhaps it was the constant bombarding he got in public school that global warming, the bird flu, terrorism or any of a number of other calamities were "just around the corner", but Jason had developed a kind of nihilistic attitude that ranged between simmering surliness and outright hostility. It didn't help that Jason had reported his father to the police for smoking a cigarette in the house, an act made criminal by the Smoking Control Statute of 2018, which outlawed smoking anywhere within 500 feet of another human being. Winston paid the $5,000 fine, which might have been considered excessive before the American dollar became virtually worthless as a result of QE13. The latest round of quantitative easing the federal government initiated was, once again, to "spur economic growth". This time they promised to push unemployment below its years-long rate of 18%, but Winston was not particularly hopeful.
Yet the family had a lot for which to be thankful, Winston thought, before remembering it was a Day of Atonement.. At least he had his memories. He felt a twinge of sadness when he realized his children would never know what life was like in the Good Old Days, long before government promises to make life "fair for everyone" realized their full potential. Winston, like so many of his fellow Americans, never realized how much things could change when they didn't happen all at once, but little by little, so people could get used to them.
He wondered what might have happened if the public had stood up while there was still time, maybe back around 2009, when all the real nonsense began. "Maybe we wouldn't be where we are today if we'd just said "enough is enough" when we had the chance, he thought.
Maybe so, Winston. Maybe so.

House passes health law repeal

House Republicans passed a bill to repeal President Barack Obama’s health care plan Wednesday, taking their first major step toward rolling back the massive overhaul that has dominated the American political landscape for almost two years.
The vote was 245 to 189, and unanimous GOP support gave the vote the same partisan feel of the March vote to pass the law, underscoring once again the hardened political lines of the health care debate. Only three Democrats backed the repeal, a smaller number than Republicans had once predicted.

Count them: Only 12 days after lawmakers from both sides of the aisle called for “civility” and a “new tone” in response to the shooting in Tucson, Arizona that severely injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, and killed six others, Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen has resorted back to using Nazi comparisons to describe his political opponents.
During a speech on the House floor late Tuesday night, Cohen said that Republicans were like Nazis for continuing to call the health care law passed in 2010 as a “government takeover of health care.”

Wal-Mart wants to build up to four stores in the surrounding area. Wouldn't that provide employment to hundreds of people in an area which has a high unemployment rate?
D.C. Anti-Walmart Protesters Plan March on Developer‘s Home With ’Target’ Flyer
A group of Washington, D.C. protesters upset about the possibility of a Walmart store coming to their area is hoping to send the potential developer of the proposed store a message. So much so that they‘re planning to march to and protest at the developer’s personal residence. The group has even gone as far as to circulate the man’s home address.
The group is called Wal-Mart Free D.C. and describes itself as “a group of DC residents who have come together to say NO to Wal-Mart.” In order to make its point, a flyer on the group‘s website say it’s organizing a march to harass the potential developer — Dick Knapp of Foulger-Pratt Development (the company has yet to sign a contract with Walmar)t. The flyer sets the march for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and includes Knapp’s address.
But the address may not be the flyer’s only controversial element. Ironically, it also contains a target symbol — a similar picture to the one seen on a district map created by Sarah Palin and that’s sparked outrage from the left in the wake of the shootings in Tucson. And what‘s worrying is that the group’s symbol is connected to specific event at a private residence:

Glenn Beck, on the Today Show with Meredith Vierra, debunks the charge that heated or violent political rhetoric contributed to the shooting in Tuscon - it was caused by the individual who committed the crime.

In a beautiful exchange, he points out that Thomas Jefferson called John Adams a "hermaphrodite", and that Adams responded by telling people that "their children would be raped and their towns burned" if Jefferson became President. Of course, none of this happened. It was in the context of very graphic political discourse during a campaign. Today I hear, from the media mostly, that the political rhetoric has never been worse. Based on the exchange between Jefferson and Adams, they might want to rethink that.

Kathleen Sebelius upped the ante on scaring the bejeezus our of people regarding universal health care, warning that up to 129 million people could be denied health care if ObamaCare is repealed. During the original debate, we "needed" this bill to insure the 40 - 50 million that they claimed didn't have health insurance, though the bill itself only insure about 17 million of those 40 - 40 million. Now she is warning that up to 3 times that amount would be affected. Where does she get her numbers? Why, it's from her own department studies, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Is it possible that she and her department are manipulating the data (cooking the books) run out to the cameras and give the Democrats their latest talking point in this debate. Bet on it.

(CNSNews.com) – As the House prepares debate on the future of the $1 trillion health care overhaul enacted last year, 200 economists have asked members of Congress to repeal the act.
“To promote job growth and help to restore the federal government to fiscal balance, we, the undersigned, feel that it would be beneficial to repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” the economists said in a letter to Congress.
“Too many Americans remain unemployed and the United States faces a daunting budgetary outlook. We believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is a threat to U.S. businesses and will place a crushing debt burden on future generations of Americans,” they wrote.

Sheila Jackson Lee, a paragon of ignorance, makes the absurd claim that the 14th Amendment allows the Federal Government the Constitutional right to force all Americans to purchase Health Insurance. I wonder if she even knows what the 14th Amendment is all about.
It states:
AMENDMENT XIV
Passed by Congress June 13, 1866. Ratified July 9, 1868.
Note: Article I, section 2, of the Constitution was modified by section 2 of the 14th amendment.
Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
This amendment to the Constitution was part of the Reconstruction Amendments (amendments 13, 14, and 15) after the Civil War. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery, The 14th Amendment was to protect the civil right of former slaves and insured Blacks full citizenship rights. The 15th Amendment banned racial restriction on voting, or in other words, gave Black people the right to vote.
How this moron gets guarantees of government mandated health insurance out of this is a mystery, as is her being assigned to Judiciary. All of her arguments are completely specious. She doesn't attempt to explain how repealing health care is Unconstitutional. The reality is - she can't. She therefore relies on sad stories of how some people died because they did not have health care. She laments, with the help of another woman, of how many children have died ("I don't know how many, but I'm sure it's a lot") due to lack of health care. No scare tactics there. Just typical of the Democrat playbook: If you don't have facts, blame or insinuate that the conservatives and Republicans don't care about children.
Sheila Jackson Lee is an embarrassment. The fact that we have so many of these elite ignoramus's elected to public office should alarm and shame us all.

Universal Health Care. The holy grail of the progressives. Of this I am certain - the Democrats will not go down without lies, smears, and a scorched earth policy where ObamaCare is concerned.
Appearing on Rachel Maddow, Nancy Pelosi claimed that Democrats would have lost even more seats if they had not rammed ObamaCare down the throats of the American public. Maddow, in her snarky way, sets up the interview talking about some recent polls released by AP and ABC (two really non-biased organizations there) which show support for repeal fading. As I posted yesterday, recent polls have been weighted with more Democrat voters than Republican or Independents. This couldn't skew the numbers at all now, could it? In addition, there is a great clip from Anthony Weiner, in all of his arrogance and pomposity, ranting on the floor of the House about the "Health Care Fairy".

The notion of a static, unchanging climate is foreign to the history of the earth or any other planet with a fluid envelope. The fact that the developed world went into hysterics over changes in global mean temperature anomaly of a few tenths of a degree will astound future generations. Such hysteria simply represents the scientific illiteracy of much of the public, the susceptibility of the public to the substitution of repetition for truth, and the exploitation of these weaknesses by politicians, environmental promoters, and, after 20 years of media drum beating, many others as well. Climate is always changing. We have had ice ages and warmer periods when alligators were found in Spitzbergen. Ice ages have occurred in a hundred thousand year cycle for the last 700 thousand years, and there have been previous periods that appear to have been warmer than the present despite CO2 levels being lower than they are now. More recently, we have had the medieval warm period and the little ice age. During the latter, alpine glaciers advanced to the chagrin of overrun villages. Since the beginning of the 19th Century these glaciers have been retreating. Frankly, we don’t fully understand either the advance or the retreat.

For conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, who declared that Obama was ideologically incapable of moving right, their predictions are looking more and more solid.

Labor unions give more money to the Democratic Party than any other source, and critics have long accused President Barack Obama’s administration of doing their bidding. Now there is evidence that the White House has indeed put its thumb on the scale on behalf of unions. After saying that “union jobs are, by and large, good jobs,” the Department of Labor’s “strategic plan” for the next five years says: “many of the Department’s outcome goals are furthered by high rates of union membership.”
Don Todd, Americans for Limited Government’s head of research and a former DOL agency head under George W. Bush, told The Daily Caller that the Obama administration wants to “shame” companies into unionizing.
“In a worst-case scenario, your union organizer comes to you, offers you a deal to unionize, you say, ‘no,’ and, the next thing you know, OSHA’s [Occupational Safety and Health Administration] at your door,” Todd said in a phone interview. “Then, Wage and Hour show up, and they want to publicize it. They always find something wrong – it’s like with bed-checks in boot camp in the army.”
