Guess What The US Senate Thinks Is The Most Important Issue We Face? Hint: It's Not The Economy

Posted by Brian

90 million Americans unemployed, Islamo-Nazi's who want worldwide sharia and the destruction of Israel and the U.S., An ObamaCare fiasco the the vast majority of Americans want no part of, the NSA spying on its own citizens, Benghazi, the IRS, pre-dawn raids on reporters homes - I could continue the list practically ad infinitum.  What do Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats put at the top of Monday's agenda? Whether Bob should be able to show up at the construction site dressed as Roberta.
No, this is not just about the right to be gay and not be fired.  This is about the "right" to be in "gender transition", which the bill not only doesn't define, but a report on the bill states"it is the committee's intent that nothing in this Act be read as establishing what an individual's gender transition must entail." So you can be whatever you want on any given day or week.  Flip a coin!
Gay rights activists argue that this legislation is needed because there are currently no laws specifically protecting homosexuals in the workplace. This argument is simply a red herring though,  They say that most people don't know there is no law to prevent you from being fired for being gay. You want to know why?  Because it doesn't happen!  When was the last time that you knew or heard of an individual being denied a job or being fired simply because they are gay? I haven't, and I'm pretty damn sure that if that were the reason given in a court of law, the employer would lose.  No. This could be fixed by simply amending the current EEOC law to include no discrimination based on "sexual orientation". But as with nearly everything else with the hardcore gay activists, it is not about "equality", it is about special rights and privileges.  The ability to be as disruptive as they want to be, and be legally protected to do so.
Of course anyone who doesn't support this will be labeled anti-gay, homophobes, racists, and any other pejorative they can think of.
The Democrats, led by Harry Reid, are happy to whore themselves out in support of any ridiculous demand if they think it will get them more voters, and the Republican leadership is incompetent in their ability to make anything approaching a coherent argument to counter.

And these Washington wizards are flummoxed by Congress' single-digit approval numbers?

Senate bill protects ‘gender transitioning’ in the workplace
By Pete Kasperowicz

The Senate will hold a procedural vote Monday on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a gay and bisexual rights bill that also aims to protect people from workplace discrimination when transitioning from one gender to another.

The bill from Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) would make it illegal for companies, associations and government employers at all levels to use sexual orientation and gender identity as a basis for hiring and firing decisions, or to use these factors to discriminate against employees or applicants.

But the bill goes further than that by including language meant to protect people from discrimination when in "gender transition." The bill gets at the idea of gender transition in Section 8, which deals with workplace dress and grooming standards.

DC Lawmakers Seek to Exempt Themselves From ObamaCare, Siting High Cost

Posted by Brian

Lawmakers in both the House and the Senate, seeing the impending disaster that is Obamacare, are scrambling to exempt themselves and their staffers from the exorbitant cost increase which is scheduled to hit next year.
Politico reports, "Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks" to exempt themselves and their staffers from the increased costs.  "Confidential"? You mean, meeting behind closed doors to hide what they're doing from the American people?   Say it isn't so!
God forbid that, realizing this monstrosity of a "health care" bill does exactly the opposite of what they advertised, which was to hold down costs and premiums, they actually do the right thing and defund the entire damn thing for everyone, but instead seek to provide a work-around for themselves and the politically well-connected.
Your elected leaders and representatives working "for the people"? Riiiiiiiiight!

Mark Levin: Reid a "Miscreant", "Lowest Of the lowlives", for politicizing Marine Deaths

Posted by Brian

MARK LEVIN SLAMS REID OVER MARINES INSULT: 'LOWEST OF THE LOW-LIVES'
Noel Sheppard

Conservative talk radio host Mark Levin on Tuesday absolutely excoriated Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) for implying on the Senate floor that the sequester was connected to the death of seven Marines at the Hawthorne, Nevada, Army depot earlier in the day.  "Harry Reid, you’re the lowest of the lowlives, you know that? You really are at the bottom of the sewer" (video follows courtesy Right Scoop with partial transcript).

MARK LEVIN:
The exploitation that the left is involved in, whether it’s that mass murder in Connecticut or this, is just inconceivable to a rational human being. If Harry Reid really cared about these seven Marines, why politicize this? Why not just go to the Senate floor and talk about it, and if you want to talk about the sequester, that’s in a separate speech? The sequester had nothing to do with this. […]

Harry Reid, you’re the lowest of the lowlives, you know that? You really are at the bottom of the sewer, all the time on every issue, whether it’s accusing Mitt Romney of not filing taxes. You are just a very ill human being. And the fact that you’re the Senate Majority Leader says an awful lot about the Democrats in the Senate.

The American people deserve better than this miscreant. We do. We deserve better than this man. He’s a vicious, stupid man. Somehow out of Searchlight, Nevada, he’s acquired tens of millions of dollars as he lives on a penthouse floor on the Ritz Carlton in Washington, D.C. Somehow, somehow this low IQ, no talent, hack, backwoods politician has become the Senate Majority Leader and an extremely wealthy man.

Harry Reid Proposes New Rule To Handcuff GOP

Posted by Brian
Saying that the filibuster rule has been "abused" in the past, Harry Reid is proposing changing Senate rules to limit the GOP's ability to filibuster bills.  That Reid is concerned about the abuse of the filibuster, or of rules in general, is laughable.  He has been completely unconcerned regarding not passing a budget in nearly four years, in clear violation of Article I of the Constitution.  Additionally, I doubt that he is concerned that the filibuster has been "abused".  After all, this Senate Rule also benefits the Democrats when they are in the minority. That is, unless Harry Reid believes that the GOP is going to be a minority for an extended period of time, and thus seeks to further weaken their influence in the Senate, ensuring that he and the Dems can push through more legislation that grows the size of government.  This along with a weak-in-the-knees Speaker Boehner in the House could make the next four-plus years extremely damaging to the country.

Reid moves to limit GOP filibusters
By Stephen Dinan-The Washington Times

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday that he will try to push through a change to Senate rules that would limit the GOP’s ability to filibuster bills.

Speaking in the wake of Tuesday’s election, which boosted Senate Democrats’ numbers slightly, Mr. Reid said he won’t end filibusters altogether but that the rules need to change so that the minority party cannot use the legislative blocking tool as often.

2012 Election: Voters Schizophrenic in Congressional Races

Posted by Brian

Barack Obama has been elected to a second term.  The Senate remains in the hands of the corrupt Harry Reid and the Democrats, and the GOP held on to the House, with the weepy and feckless John Boehner expected to remain as Speaker.

Congratulations America!  You voted the status quo! The Tea Party lost a few seats (Allen West of Florida and Joe Walsh of Illinois), as did the Democrats (Fortney Pete Stark of CA and John Kerry of MA).

This was possibly the most divided electorate I have witnessed in my 50-plus years.  Not just in votes, but in the types of candidates who were elected and rejected. Obama wins Massachusetts with 60% of the vote,  while far-left liberal Democrat John Kerry loses his seat.  Simultaneously, Massachusetts elects fauxcahontas Elizabeth Warren, the self-professed blond blue-eyed Indian squaw.

On the other end of the spectrum, Utah goes for Romney with 72% of the vote, while conservative Mia Love looks to be headed for defeat by less than 3000 votes.

This election is going to be analyzed for decades for how all-over-the-map voters were in their voting patterns (or lack thereof), which completely defy logic.  It defies logic because a majority of voters polled said that the government is getting too big, yet voted for a man who epitomizes big government, voted out Obama sure-bet votes Stark and Kerry, while rejecting small government candidates West and Walsh.

While Obama celebrates his victory, his challenge is not going to be a split Congress, but an American electorate schizophrenic as to what kind of country they want.

Romney 2011Tax Return: Paid 14.1% In Taxes, 29% Of Income To Charity

Posted by Brian

Well, the big day is here! Mitt Romney has released his tax return for 2011! And...I could care less.

All of the run up to this, with the Democrats and the media trying to turn this election into how much Mitt Romney pays in taxes is asinine.  And a distraction from the real issues facing our country.

Unemployment is still sky high, Total workforce participation is at an all time low, more people giving up looking for a job than are finding one.  Our foreign policy is in shambles. The Middle East and Islamic countries are on fire, the result of a failed foreign policy and a President seen as weak and feckless (sorry libs, but it's not about a movie). Iran is ready to go nuclear, and Israel is preparing to go it alone, as Obama makes it clear that he is not an ally of Benyamin Netanyahu and Israel, even if the vast majority of Americans are.

Yet, the media is concerned with how much Mitt Romney pays in taxes. Well, we now have the answer.  A lot. Seven figures. Three times what Obama pays.  "But, but, Mitt Romney only pays 14.1 percent in taxes and Obama payed 20percent!"  I guess Romney has better accountants than Barack Obama. OR, maybe its because he gave over $4 million to charity, thus lowering his taxable income!  It must be that he trusts himself with where his money is spent than the Federal government.  One other little side note: Romney didn't even clam all of his charitable deductions! Thus, his taxable percentage was even higher than it could have been.  In other words, he voluntarily payed even more than he was required to. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Harry Reid! By the way Harry, You owe Mitt Romney a public apology.  I won't hold my breath. It's already proven that you have no honor.

Since the Dems are so concerned with  Romney paying his "fair share", let's take a look at good old Joe Biden (video below), who said of the "wealthy" in regard to taxes and being greedy:

"Time to be Patriotic. Time jump in. Time to be a part of the deal."

Well, since Joe is so generous with other people's money, how generous is he with his own?
From 1998-2007, generous Joe gave an average of $369, or .3% a year to charity. His generosity is stunning. Most military men and women give more to through Combined Federal Campaign charity drives each year.  And trust me, they make nowhere near what a Congressman makes.  Since becoming Vice President though,  Jumpin' Joe has upped his charitable donations to over $5000, or 1.46% of his income. Wow, Joe! Looks like you need to jump in, and be part of the game, because right now you are barely getting your toe wet.

The fact is, I am just glad that this is out of the way. It's just an annoyance.  Of course the media is going to point out the Obama payed 20%, but that is easily parried.  Truth is, most Americans don't really care about this issue.

It just good to point out the Dems hypocrisy, and to see Harry Reid choke on his own lie about Romney not paying taxes.

Tax records: Romney donated 29 percent of income to charity in 2011
Published: 4:19 PM 09/21/2012 By Neil Munro

Mitt Romney has donated nearly 13.5 percent of his income to charity over the last 20 years, according to a statement from his accountants at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Those charitable gifts reached 29 percent of his income in 2011 when he donated $4 million out of his $13.7 million income, according to a Sept. 21 statement describing the Romney’s 2011 tax returns.

Must See TV: Bill Whittle Eviscerates The Myth Of Obama and His Pals

I don't know that I've ever seen Bill Whittle more angry and upset. But, it is a righteous anger fueled by the lies, deception, and willful destruction that all we hold dear as Americans, that is the catalyst for his indignation.  Led by a cabal of leftist ideologues, the Obama Administration and the Democrats have enacted a scorched-earth policy upon the U.S. economy and its people.  Whittle, like a surgeon, exposes the sordid cast of characters, or "merchants of despair", that Obama has placed around him, and lays open the contemptible character of the man, Obama, himself.

Whittle's point is this: Are we going to allow this man to get another four years in the White House? It's up to YOU!

This is a clarion call to the American people.  Forward or retweet this to as many Americans' as you can, and vote this November!

Afterburner with Bill Whittle: Merchants of Despair

Who is responsible for the current economic malaise? If you ask Bill Whittle, it's Obama's pals like David Axelrod, Harry Reid and Tim Geithner, some of the many Merchants of Despair. These merchants are costing taxpayers trillions and creating deep national divides based on class and race. Will the despair continue for another four years? Find out.

Debbie Was-A-Man Schultz says Reid's Refusal To Bring Budget To Floor "Simply Not True"

Posted by Brian
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: The face that launched a thousand lunches
The master prevaricator once again goes before the American public to spew lies and half-truths, while getting in her obligatory slam at the Republicans.

This woman is beyond despicable.  Wearing her arrogance on her sleeve like a badge of honor, she time and again goes before the cameras to spew leftist propaganda worthy of Josef Goebbels.

The fact is that a budget has not come out of the Senate in over three years.  Harry Reid, the President and the Democrats have not brought forward a serious budget during the three-plus years that Obama has been in office.  Of the two budgets that the President has submitted, which were not worth the paper they were written on, neither one got a singe vote for passage.  Nada. Not even one vote!

"Simply not true", Debbie?  You wouldn't know the truth if it smacked you in the ass on your way out of office.

Reid: Rubio "Supposedly" Represents Hispanics

Posted by Brian
And Harry Reid supposedly represents the people of Nevada. Or is he representing those with dementia?

Marco Rubio “Is Supposedly Representing Hispanic Issues,” Harry Reid Says
A nonplused Rubio spokesman responds: “Rubio represents Florida.
posted Feb 16, 2012 10:02am EST

Majority Leader Harry Reid's suggestion that the job of Florida Senator Marco Rubio is to represent Hispanics nationally raised some eyebrows this morning.
“In Nevada, [ambassadorial nominee Mari Carmen Aponteis seen by the Puerto Rican community, the Hispanic community, as really somebody who is an up-and-rising star. … I just think it’s a mistake for someone who is supposedly representing Hispanic issues to do what [Rubio] has done,” Reid told POLITICO's Glenn Thrush.

Harry Reid's Democrat-Controlled Senate: 1,000 Days Without A Budget

http://blog.heritage.org
Today marks the 1,000th day since the United States Senate has passed a budget. While the House has put forth (and passed) its own budget, the Senate has failed to do the same. To help illustrate how extraordinary this failure has been, our new video highlights a few of impressive feats in history that have been accomplished in less time.

Allen West: Harry Reid Stands For "Fiscal Insanity"

"...We saw Senator Harry Reid talk about people being obstructionists. We saw him blame the tea party, we saw him blame senate Republicans. He's even blamed House Freshman on the Republican side. But what Harry Reid does not understand simply, the constitutional conservative grassroots movement called the Tea Party stands for this, they stand for fiscal responsibility, they stand for fiscal sanity. And the American people have to balance budgets in their homes. Our small business owners have to balance budgets to run their businesses. So obviously what Harry Reid calls obstructionism. I look at it, he stands for fiscal irresponsibility. He stands for fiscal insanity!"

Sen. Harry Reid Lies To The American Public

"Private Sector Jobs Are Doing Just Fine"

To paraphrase what Sean Hannity said in 2008: The media in this country has died. To not report some of the absolutely despicable things coming out of the mouths of the far left these days, including this outright lie from Harry Reid, is the height of journalistic malpractice. Just as "Saying the same thing over and over again" will eventually be taken as "truth", not reporting anything apparently means it never happened. Media bias does not just mean to "slant" a story.  It can also mean failing to cover something that is newsworthy at all.  The mainstream media does both.
It doesn't even take much "googling" to find out that what Reid says here is completely fabricated.
Since the beginning of the recession (see National Review article), nearly 600,000 jobs have been created in the public sector (government jobs), while over 7.9 million jobs have been lost in the private sector. Since the Obama "stimulus" package in February 2009, over 400,000 jobs have been created in the public sector, while over 2.6 million private sector jobs have been lost. Yet Harry Reid goes before the American public and lies through his yellowed teeth in an attempt to purposefully mislead the American people.

Why do we keep hearing of the GOP obstructing Obama's jobs bill, yet Democrat Senator Harry Reid won't even bring the bill up for a vote?  Could it be that this bill stinks on ice, and even the Democrats know that this will lead to even greater landslide losses in 2012?

Sen. Reid - Bend Over, Here It Comes Again

Reid: Joint Committee Must Include Taxes Or Trigger Will Kick In

This troll would have all of us out of work and dependent on the government. Apparently, there is nothing that Congress can find to cut from a $1.6 trillion deficit. If this jerk thinks that 2010 was a watershed election, he hasn't seen pissed off. This goes for jerks like McCain, Snowe, Collins, et al, in the Republican Party as well. There is not a single argument that can be made that will convince me that there are not HUGE cuts that can be made in the federal budget without raising taxes. And notice, these gutless wonders rarely even use the words "raise taxes" anymore. They are now called "revenue enhancements". They don't have cojones to say it because they know that the voters will go ballistic. Cover it up with some benign sounding term. One which doesn't cause ones ears to perk up and start paying attention.
Reid is talking about new taxes, but this is only the beginning. Wait until 2013, when Obama's Health Care really kicks in, and all of the taxes that are going to be triggered by that monstrosity.
If these jerks are not kicked out in 2012, Democrats and liberal Republicans alike, and replaced by fiscal conservatives, who are constitutionally sound in to their core, we are screwed.

Reid Blasts Republicans For Playing Politics With Debt, Then Filibusters Own Bill

Posted by Brian
Harry Reid, who accuses the Republicans of turning the debt ceiling debate into a circus, just upped the ante on how dysfunctional this Congress is. With "Baghdad" Dick Durbin and Chuckie "Schmuckie" Schumer, he went before the cameras last night to talk of the unseriousness of the House Republicans, in sending bills to the Senate which are not "serious". In addition, he said that the GOP should at least give his bill an "up or down vote".
You have to hand it to Reid. He has cojones the size of his considerable ego.  He calls for the up or down vote after "tabling" both Republican bills without up or down votes. Then he turns around and filibusters his own bill, moving the "artificial" August 2nd deadline one day closer.  It makes me wonder if this guy doesn't have political Tourettes.  He complains that the Republicans are the party of "just say no", while conveniently omitting that the Senate, under his "leadership", has not produced a budget (as required by law) in over 800 days.  Yet, without a budget, the Democrats have spent over $9 trillion in the last 2 and a half years. Still, Harry Reid claims it is the fault of Republicans that we are in this financial mess.  I believe that Reid is one small mini-stroke from drooling in his oatmeal.  I am not being totally facetious here either.  His mispronunciation of simple (like those with double "B's"), slurring, and his general speech patterns make me wonder if his mental acuity is starting to falter. These are not the thoughts of someone whose mind is "hitting on all cylinders".
Regardless, August 2nd looks to be a pipe dream for passage of a bill now.  But the world will not end on that day.  The economy will not collapse.  It is, and has always been an arbitrary date to creat a crisis, and "get something done".
Harry Reid and the Democrats know this, and this latest tactic shows that they know it.

Democrats Enforce Filibuster Against Their Own Debt Bill
by Stephen Dinan

Senate Republicans want a 60-vote threshold for a debt-limit bill to pass the chamber, but it's actually Democrats who are enforcing the filibuster on their own legislation, insisting on delaying a vote until 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Republicans offered to let the vote happen Friday night, just minutes after the chamber voted to halt a House Republican bill. All sides expect Democrats' bill will fail too, and the GOP said senators might as well kill both at the same time so that negotiations could move on to a compromise.

Huntsman Presidential Chances Flushed By Reid Endorsement

Official photo of United States Ambassador to ...Image via Wikipedia
Whatever small chance that Jon Huntsman had to get the GOP primary has been damaged by an unlikely ally - Senator Harry Reid (D-NV). Only a day after standing in the place that Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy for the 1980 Presidential run, with Lady Liberty standing proud in the background, and saying he has "respect" for President Obama, and that politics need to be more civil, he was already off to a rough start with conservatives. This will probably, and hopefully, put a nail in the coffin of his candidacy.

House GOP Needs Leadership Capable Of Playing Hardball With Obama

Posted by Brian

Now that the dust has settled, and the GOP establishment media have stopped falling all over themselves to slap Boehner on the back over his "victory" in the budget battle, details are emerging which confirm what many of us knew all along - Boehner got rolled.

Let's forget that Boehner went back on the GOP's promise to cut $100 billion from the budget, then $61 billion, finally telling us that they got Obama and the Democrats to "come up" to $38.5 billion. The reality is this:  Boehner lied through his teeth.  He lied to the country.  Worse, he lied to the ones who put him where he is - the Tea Party and conservatives.

The first sign that something was wrong was when stories started to trickle out, starting with Mark Levin being interviewed by Neil Cavuto, that accounting tricks put the cuts at much less than the $38.5 billion being touted, starting with $10 billion carried over from the previous continuing resolution touted on this resolution.  Worse, almost none of these cuts are included in the current fiscal year, which ends September 30, and will amount to only $352 million! For Boehner to go out and claim victory is a slap in the face to every American.  This is the kind of crap we expect from Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and the Democrats.  It's in their DNA.  But, when the GOP is this tone-deaf to what the voters said in November, it shows that there are a lot of Republicans that need to be shown the door in 2012, as well.

What Happened?

Boehner may be the worst poker player in the world.  No trip to to Vegas and the World Series Of Poker for this guy. He would get cleaned out at the neighborhood nickle-ante game.  Who takes the only hole card that they have and throws it face up on the table?  This is what Boehner did when he told Obama, the Democrats, and the rest of the world that the Republicans would not shut down the government.  This was the only leverage that he had.  He folded his hand before the game even started.

The supposed negotiations with Obama and Reid were apparently strategy meeting to see how much of the status quo could be maintained, how they could cook the books, and to come up with a statement that Boehner could deliver with a straight face to the public.

Boehner and House Whip Eric Cantor are not doing what the Tea Party, conservatives and millions of other Americans asked them to do when they sent Republicans to sweeping victories in November, and which gave Boehner and Cantor their respective positions.  They are not solving the budget problems that they were entrusted with.  They are now part of the problem.

GOP House and Senate leaders have not only been weak, but some have been hostile to the voters that put them there, joining Democrats in calling them "extreme".  Well, some of them may find out how extreme we really are come 2012 - when they find themselves out on their asses.

Mark Levin: Budget Deal is "Historic Scam"

Mark Levin calls out the GOP on (once again) caving to Obama and the Democrats. The current Republican leadership are weak, ineffective D.C. metrosexuals. Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, and the rest have no stomach for any fight with the Democrats. The Democrats know that they can hurl accusations at these dolts and they will fold like a house of cards. They appear incapable of mounting any kind of response to Dem talking points, no matter how outrageous those talking points are. There needs to be a movement within the party that tells these weak-kneed Nancy's to either strap up for battle or get the hell out of the way.

Extremist Obama Presents Straw Men, But No Solutions Or Ideas

The President emerged from his latest meeting with Speaker John Boehner and Senate Leader Harry Reid empty-handed in the budget battle. His 5 minute press conference was spent telling us in dire terms what a "shutdown" of the government might look like.  It was the usual pablum of people being "inconvenienced" by a shutdown - not being able to get a passport, hundreds of thousands of people out of work, etc...

Lost in all of this is that the President has not presented a single proposal during this entire process.  Nor has Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, or any other Democrat.  Meanwhile the Democrats are pulling out the 1995 playbook, accusing Republicans of depriving senior citizens of meals, going like a "tornado through nursing homes", blah, blah, blah.  Yet the media, save Fox News, are mostly silent on the fact that Democrats failed to pass this fiscal year's budget last year when they held the House, the Senate, and the White House.  Presumably, the Dems punted on the budget because the poll numbers for the November election already looked dire for them, and another massive spending budget would have put a stake through their political hearts.  So instead of either Reid or Pelosi taking a principled stand  back in October, they both chose the cowards way out and punted to the new Republican Congress.

This battle is a purely political strategy by the Democrats, who thought they could re-create the 1995 budget battle, in which the Republicans lost the P.R. battle. However, it is the Democrats who are getting bloodied this time around.

If the Republicans don't hold their ground in cutting a measly $61 billion from a $3.7 trillion budget, it will not bode well for when they present the Paul Ryan budget later in the year, which addresses $6.7 trillion in cuts and  lowers spending to 2008 levels.  The Tea Party swept the GOP back into power to significantly cut spending, and for Boehner to fold now would be a betrayal to all who made his rise to House Speaker possible.

If the Dems feel like they get the best of the Republicans in this battle, they will smell blood, and be emboldened for the next fight.  Conversely, if the GOP bloodies the noses of the Dems, I fully expect the Dems to become even more vicious.  I welcome this as the Democrats will not be able to control themselves and will  expose their true socialist agenda, effectively lifting the veil on who they really are, and what they really stand for.
