[UPDATED: Harry Shearer Weighs In] Claudia Alvarez, Santa Ana Councilwoman/Deputy District Attorney, Goes On Anti-Semitic Rant
By Gustavo Arellano Sun., Aug. 28 2011 at 3:00 PM
Update: August 28, 3:51 p.m. On today's broadcast of KCRW-FM 89.9's Le Show, Harry Shearer referenced Alvarez's stupidity. I don't listen to the show because it conflicts with Breakfast with the Beatles over at KLSX-FM 95.5, but I guess it came out during one of his bits where he reads bullet points about the news.
See News video below.  If video doesn't show, click here

After cracking a non-Mexican joke at the city ("Yes, Santa Ana has a downtown," Shearer said), the voice of Ned Flanders and many other Simpsons characters summed the story for his Santa Monica listeners, ending with word that Alvarez apologized but that gentrifier Irv Chase had no comment.

Obama Schedules Speech Same Time as GOP Debate, White House Says GOP Can Reschedule

Wednesday, August 31, 2011
By Fred Lucas
(CNSNews.com) – After the White House scheduled a presidential speech to a joint session of Congress to coincide with a GOP presidential debate, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said he personally, and he believed President Obama, would be glad to see the candidates reschedule.
Carney also jokingly compared the Republican candidates seeking to unseat the president in next year’s election to the "wildlife channel," prompting laughter from the press corps. He further stressed that the Republican debate was not a consideration in planning the president’s speech.

Congressional Black Caucus Incites Racial Hatred, Promoting Race Riots

Posted by Brian
With support for Obama waning on all fronts, the Congressional Black Caucus is attempting to save his Presidency by ratcheting up the racial rhetoric in what amounts to a de facto call for race riots.  With racial tensions already strained after 31 months of claims by the likes of Janeane Garafolo, that diagreeing with Obama's policies amount to "straight up racism", we have already seen "flash mobs" of black youths terrorizing businesses, neighborhoods, and at state fairs.  Now the CBC is spewing images of Jim Crow and lynchings, effectively endorsing racial violence.
Notice also that President Obama has not uttered a single word to denounce this vile behavior, which I consider a de facto endorsement of the CBC's message and behaviour. To him this is the culmination on the message of Bill Ayres "Weather Underground" and Cloward and Pivens' calls for race riots and civil unrest.
Where are the media? They're drumming up false hysteria about weather, calling CAT 1 hurricanes the "Storm of the Century", and wondering how many wardrobe changes Kim Kadashian makes at her wedding.
As the 2012 election nears, expect that this type of stuff, by both racially charged mobs and politically motivated leftists/anarchists, to only intensify.

Members of the radical Congressional Black Caucus are now spewing hatred against TEA Party members

ALERT: Congressional Black Caucus ObamaThugs Calls for Race War to keep Obama in power
- Sher Zieve Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Since usurping the US presidency, the Marxist-Leninist Obama syndicate has committed treason after treason upon the USA and its people. Note: See my past columns for more information. Now, however, it is moving into the next and, as predicted, extreme violence phase.

The CBC is going from city to city nationally and demanding “Beyond Zimbabwe change!” As the TEA Party has attempted to reign in Congressional spending, the CBC has become more vicious in its rhetoric against it. Members of the radical Congressional Black Caucus are now spewing hatred against TEA Party members by comparing their efforts to stabilize the US economy to ‘enacting Jim Crow laws’ and ’seeing us [blacks] hanging on a tree’!

Obama’s ineligibility: Prepare to defend America – Obama’s race war begins

- Lawrence Sellin Wednesday, August 31, 2011

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is out there again in full race-baiting mode.

Having failed to drum up support for Barack Obama in the form of racial hatred by playing the victim card in the infamous Tea Party “N-Word” incident that didn’t happen, the CBC is now promoting racial violence against the Tea Party.

Members of the CBC are traveling the country inciting racist hatred, telling audiences that the Tea Party “wants to lynch blacks.”

Labor Dept. Signs Partners With Foreign Govts. To Prevent Deportation Of Illegals

Posted by Brian
In one of the most blatent actions to circumvent U.S. law that I have seen, the Labor Department has unilaterally decided that they will not enforce current U.S. immigration policies and laws.  This should not come as a total surprise as the head of the Labor Department (which is supposed to protect the rights of ALL workers) is none other than Hilda Solis, a radical pro-illegal immigration/open borders supporter and friend of the racist group, La Raza.  A glimpse into who Solis is can be seen through the following quote:    "We are all Americans, whether you are legalized or not."
The Obama tornado continues to cut a path of destruction across the American fabric.

Labor Dept. Signs 'Partnerships' with Foreign Gov’s to Protect Illegal Workers in U.S.

Monday, August 29, 2011
By Edwin Mora

(CNSNews.com) - U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis today signed "partnership" agreements with ambassadors from a group of Latin American nations aiming to protect what she described as the labor rights of both legal and illegal migrants working in the United States.

During the signing ceremony hosted at Labor Department headquarters in Washington D.C., Solis said the agreements are aimed at educating migrant workers, regardless of how they got here, about their rights under U.S. law and to help prevent them from being abused in the workplace, either through wages, loss of job, or deportation.

Everyday is Like Groundhog Day with Obama

Mark Levin: Chris Christie, Barack Obama, and the Cult Of Personality

A classic Mark Levin segment. Love or hate him, he ask questions which many hosts don't, or won't. He breaks down many of the actual issues which Chris Christie has less than stellar conservative credentials on - Global Warming, the 2nd Amendment, Obamacare, collective bargaining for public sector unions, et.al. Christie has gotten great mileage out of his You Tube confrontations with unions. Though entertaining, and with more than a few "hell yeah" moments, they only give a glimpse of where Christie stands on public policy issues
In addition to the Governor Christie segment, his passion in exposing the Presidency of Barack Obama, is both entertaining and inspiring.
Enjoy. This is Levin at his best.

Mark Levin cross examines Chris Christie and so far has no good answers to his questions. Mark comments on John Kornin (R) Texas. Then Mark comments on "La Raza" the left wing front group which is being financed with public funds. "Can somebody tell me what the Obama's are doing less with?" Mark comments on Michelle Obama's $1000 "tote" bag and Obama's parties, golf games and basket ball time and what a mess they are making of the country. 3/11/2011

Al Gore: Debating Global Warming Akin To Bull Connor Racism

Al Gore Says Debating With Him On Climate Science is Moral Equivalent of Racism
On the one hand, I find it comical how Algore brings up Bull Connor (a Democrat) and civil rights in the 60's, seeing as how his father, Senator Al Gore Sr., was a segregationist who voted against the Civil Rights Act. On the other hand, it is hard not to be infuriated by the condescension dripping from Algore's every word. He is finally beginnig to realize that he is losing the war on his global warming snake oil and is becoming more unhinged and angry. On top of that, you have this interviewer who points out that the science is settled on CO2 trapping heat, right on the heels NASA reporting that the effect is overblown

Here we have Al Gore losing it during a profanity-laced speech at the Aspen Institute.

Hurricane Irene and Wall Street The Politics of Intimidation

Interesting take on how oil is traded, what influences the price, and how the media never seem to get it right, all against the backdrop of Hurricane Irene. Not so sure about his seeming support of the Dodd/Frank Bill. Any bill with their names on it portends disaster for danger for the American taxpayer.

h/t Living The Dream
Thanks to Laura for the inspiration.
Whether it's fair for giant hedge funds and other speculators to influence the price of commodities is a complicated question, which is probably why it's so rarely addressed in the media. It's certainly not fair if one or more parties can exercise enough influence to manipulate the market. That's why Congress tried to make this type of trading more transparent with last year's Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
But markets as big as the oil market aren't easy to manipulate. And having free and open markets is the core of capitalism. Not only is having speculators in the market fair, it's essential. Because by helping to establish clearing prices, speculators actually keep the supply of oil flowing.
Think of it this way. When speculators buy, they drive up the cost of oil. That, in turn, provides an incentive for Big Oil to go out and dig it out of the ground. When Big Oil digs more than is needed, those same speculators sell oil, forcing prices down.
In short, speculators help keep markets in balance -- as long as the trades they're making are transparent and they don't have the ability to manipulate prices, they're a healthy addition.
So the next time you hear some talking head on the evening news tell you that oil prices are higher because of unrest in the middle east or elsewhere, remember: That's not why oil prices went up. They went up because people on a trading floor decided that for whatever reason, they were willing to bet prices were heading higher, and they wanted a piece of the action.
Of course, even if these markets are ultimately fair, and you have the means to hedge against higher prices by buying stocks or commodities, the vast majority of Americans don't. What do we say to the people who are now cutting back on groceries so they can pay for the gas to get to work?
Most Americans are way more interested in what they can do to keep their Homes rather than what they can do about Oil and Gas prices at this point.

Hypocrite, Obama Shill Warren Buffet's Company Owes Taxes Back To 2002

Posted by Brian
Even as he calls on the rich to pay higher taxes and pay their "fair share", billionaire Warren Buffet uses tax laws to pay the lowest tax rate he can, and apparently has underpaid or failed to pay other taxes at all, dating back to 2002. For all his pontificating, Buffett apparently likes to keep as much of the money he and his companies have earned, just as much as the next guy.
How do you spell hypocrite?

This one’s truly, uh ... rich: Billionaire Warren Buffett says folks like him should have to pay more taxes -- but it turns out his firm, Berkshire Hathaway, hasn’t paid what it’s already owed for years.

That’s right: As Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson notes, the company openly admits that it owes back taxes since as long ago as 2002.

“We anticipate that we will resolve all adjustments proposed by the US Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) for the 2002 through 2004 tax years ... within the next 12 months,” the firm’s annual report says.

Tyranny Alert: Feds Turn Sights On Big Guitar and Big Wood Industries

Posted by Brian
Do you own a vintage or guitar?  Better make sure all of your documentation is in order.  The Federal Government has decided that one of the greatest dangers to life as we know it is the type of wood used to make instruments such as Gibson guitars, woodwind instruments, and even bagpipes, which all use ebony woods. The Feds are comparing the smuggling of some of these hardwoods to "blood diamonds".  Just a little strong on the hyperbole.  But this is the M.O. of this administration and the leftists - Use the most extreme example to describe whatever it is that they are currently targeting. Tea Partiers are "terrorists" or "Nazi's".  Illegal immigration and gay marriage are inexplicably compared to the 60's Civil Rights Movement.  It appears that the best way to stay out of the sights of the feds is to dress up in paramilitary gear, stand out in front of a voting pricinct wearing dark sunglasses, carrying a nightstick, and intimidating white voters.
So tell me again: What does tyranny look like?

Guitar Frets: Environmental Enforcement Leaves Musicians in Fear

Federal agents swooped in on Gibson Guitar Wednesday, raiding factories and offices in Memphis and Nashville, seizing several pallets of wood, electronic files and guitars. The Feds are keeping mum, but in a statement yesterday Gibson's chairman and CEO, Henry Juszkiewicz, defended his company's manufacturing policies, accusing the Justice Department of bullying the company. "The wood the government seized Wednesday is from a Forest Stewardship Council certified supplier," he said, suggesting the Feds are using the aggressive enforcement of overly broad laws to make the company cry uncle.

It isn't the first time that agents of the Fish and Wildlife Service have come knocking at the storied maker of such iconic instruments as the Les Paul electric guitar, the J-160E acoustic-electric John Lennon played, and essential jazz-boxes such as Charlie Christian's ES-150. In 2009 the Feds seized several guitars and pallets of wood from a Gibson factory, and both sides have been wrangling over the goods in a case with the delightful name "United States of America v. Ebony Wood in Various Forms."

Bernanke proposes no new steps to boost economy but hints Congress should help

Bernanke proposed no new steps by the Fed to boost the economy. But at a time when Congress has been focused on shrinking long-run budget deficits, he warned lawmakers not to "disregard the fragility of the current economic recovery."

More Attention Really Does Need To Be Paid To Ron Paul

Posted by Brian
Ron Paul's supporters have been very vocal lately about the lack of press that he gets.  Well, I'm certainly not the press, but at least I can affect my little corner of the world regarding Rep. Paul's views and some of his history, which I'm sure that some of my friends who are Paul supporters won't appreciate. In fact, my several encounters with Ron Paul supporters have shown them to be unwilling to look at any beliefs other than their own, eerily similar to the supporters of Obama. The cult of personality is a strong master.
I actually agree with some of what Ron Paul says as it relates to fiscal matters and domestic policies.  But, there is a huge chasm between Ron Paul's foreign policy ideas and where I stand. There are definite undercurrents in his policies/ideas of racism, anti-semitism, and outright hostility toward Israel.  His isolationist policy ideas have far more in common with George McGovern and Woodrow Wilson than Ronald Reagan or Calvin Coolidge.
The American Spectator's Lord has written a great article as a primer to educating the public on some of the less well-known quirks of the Paul Doctrine.
Ron Paul and the Neoliberal Reeducation Campaign
By Jeffrey Lord on 8.23.11 @ 6:09AM

To bring about radical and permanent change in any society, our primary focus must be on the conversion of minds through education.
-- Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul

Somebody needs to say this.

Does Ron Paul have a lot of interesting ideas he puts forward as a presidential candidate?

Yes. From his honestly libertarian views (he was the 1988 Libertarian presidential nominee, so he's been at this a long time) to his willingness to challenge the status quo on economics (questioning the role of everything from sugar subsidies to the Federal Reserve) to his emphasis on the Constitution and the Founding Fathers, Congressman Paul has been fearless in sticking with his principles. And in bringing new ideas -- or old ideas -- to an American electorate that has been staggered by the far-left reality that is the Obama Administration.

But as complaints surface in the wake of his strong showing in the Iowa Straw Poll, complaints from Paul supporters and candidate Paul himself that he is not receiving the attention that is his due -- someone should say the Congressman and his supporters are correct. There should be -- must be -- more attention paid to the Paul campaign.

Obama, You Lie! 900 YEARS of Oil In Green River Formation Oil Field Alone!

h/t to S. Abarbanell
President Obama, liberals (both Dem and Rep), the environmentalists, and a sycophantic media continue to parrot the Sierra Club's lie that the U.S. holds only 2% of the worlds' oil reserves. As pointed out, this figure was wrong when it was first put out there, and it continues to be wrong today. The government's own study shows that we have more fossil fuel resources than China, Canada and Saudi Arabia combined. To quote Joe Wilson: Mr. President, "You Lie!"

And now a flashback to Joe Wilson's "The Emperor Has No Clothes" moment.

Rep. Joe Wilson shocked many observers in 2009 when he shouted, "You lie!" after the president denied that health care legislation would provide free coverage for illegal immigrants.
In 2011, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced it has awarded $28.8 million to 67 community health centers with funds from the Obamacare health reform law.
Of that $28.8 million, "approximately $8.5 million will be used by 25 New Access Point awardees to target services to migrant and seasonal farm workers,"- grant recipients will not check the immigration status of people seeking services

Does V.P. Joe Biden Support Forced Abortions?

While El Presidente Obama is hanging in the Hamptons, Joe Biden has gone to China to...well, nobody knows what the hell he's doing there, but he's there. And it hasn't taken him long to let the Chinese know what we here in the U.S. have known for at least a decade - he's a loudmouthed blowhard who can't keep both feet out of his mouth.  If the purpose of his trip is to embolden the ChiComs to put a full court press on the Obama administration on all fronts, then I guess his trip is going to be a total suuccess.
What did Biden say? Biden: “Your policy has been one which I fully understand — I’m not second-guessing — of one child per family."
Fully understands? Fully understands what?  Forced abortions? Forced sterilizations? Fines and jail for those who don't comply, or for those who help hide them?
What other regime practiced eugenics on this level?  The Nazis!
Here Biden is put into a position (Vice President) that historically is pretty innocuous. It's mostly a place holder in case the President is incapacitated. No real duties. Joe Biden is not even qualified to do that.

Jon Huntsman Jr.: McCain, Part Douche

Utah gubernatorial election, 2004Image via Wikipedia
Man-made global warming and cap & trade? Check. In-state tuition and drivers licenses for illegal immigrants? Check.  Mandated universal healthcare? Check. Bring Chinese students to the U.S. for college degrees? Check. Economic policy? He'll have to get back to us on that.

They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again. For Republicans to nominate Jon Huntsman would certainly be insane.  He's John McCain with a better tan. He's Bob Dole with a little more hop in his step (though with Dole the establishment rewarded him with the nomination for the infuriating 'it was his turn' reasoning typical of GOP elites). This guy steps up out of virtually nowhere, with little to no name recognition, except among Beltway and northeastern elites, to run for the highest office in the land. Yet, it is doubtful that the people of Utah would elect this linguine-spined pretender again.  It is believed that the reason that he got elected in Utah in the first place, more because of the name recognition of his father Jon Huntsman, who was solidly conservative, than because of his brilliance as a politician. Under Huntsman, Utah's budget increased by $5.1 billion and he was praised by the liberal Pew Research (red flag) as the best run state in the country.
In fairness, Huntsman does have conservative positions on some issues and is strongly pro-Israel. But he has yet to explain how he can support the anti-business cap and trade and government mandated healthcare with a sound pro-growth economic policy.
The prototypical RINO...Jon Huntsman
, Conservative Examiner

If you’re not familiar with the term RINO it means Republican in Name Only. There never was a better example of that than Gov. Jon Huntsman. Why this man is running for president as Republican may be one of life’s great mysteries. Some believe that Huntsman is a liberal plant. While this may seem far-fetched, Huntsman’s appearance on TV Sunday sure went a long way to give credence to that view.

Huntsman gave yet another demonstration of his anti-conservative views on ABC Television’s This Week program Sunday morning. A partial transcript of Huntsman’s comments can be found at This Week Huntsman Transcript.

Proposed Libya Constitution Grounded On Sharia Law

Posted by Brian

Libyan rebels celebrate
The dust has barely settled in Tripoli, in what appears to be Gadhafi's last stand as dictator of the N. African country, and the latest saga of the "Arab Spring" has taken another turn towards creating another Islamist state.  News reports have world leaders falling all over themselves to pat themselves on the back and take credit for this 'freedom movement'.  U.S. President Barack Obama dragged himself off the beach at his his Martha's Vineyard retreat to say, ""The people of Libya are showing that the universal pursuit of dignity and freedom is far stronger than the iron fist of a dictator."
Moammar Gadhafi is definitely a horrible despot whom Libya would have been better off without decades ago,  but for the media and others to begin celebrating is a bit premature.  It is unclear at this point of who, or what is going to fill the leadership vacuum in the country. If initial reports are any indication, the Muslim Brotherhood may have swept into power in in Libya, as it looks like they have in Egypt.  The proposed draft constitution for Libya puts Sharia Law as its "principal source of legislation". This has the islamist Muslim Brotherhood (and in my opinion, Iranian fingerprints are all over every one of these Arab Spring uprisings across the Middle East) written all over it.
View the proposed constitution below:

MSNBC: Racist Republicans Want Obama To Fail Because He's Black

What passes for "serious" political analysis by this hack from the Huffington Post falls back on the age-old leftist tactic of race-baiting the opposition. In the alternate universe of the left, everything regarding Barack Obama is seen through a racial lens. In wanting Obama to fail it is incomprehensible to them that we see his policies as being destructive to the country, and that his success in getting them through legislatively and otherwise is detrimental to the country. In their twisted thinking it can only be racist, religious zealots who can't stand the thought that a black man is in the Oval Office. The fact that his economic and energy policies. his "green" initiatives and overall anti-business stance have put up immovable roadblocks to any meaningful recovery is antithetical to their way of thinking. It has to be his race which is behind the disapproval.
As Obama's poll numbers continue to fall it is important to note that a good percentage of those who are dissatisfied with Obama's policies are people who voted for him in 2008. Have they also become racist religious nut-jobs the last two and a half years? I guess we are not supposed to think about that.
This is going to become manifested in more virulent, and more personal attacks, and with greater frequency, as the left becomes mentally unhinged with the realization that, as Obama's poll numbers continue to drop, his reelection chances will begin to fade.
Watch as the "post-partisan" veneer of Barack Obama sheds like the skin of a snake during this election season. His campaign, with the help of a willing media, will become one of the nastiest, and most divisive, in terms of personal destruction, that this country has ever seen in electoral politics.

Postal Service proposes cutting 120,000 jobs, pulling out of health-care plan

By Joe Davidson, Updated: Thursday, August 11, 5:24 PM

SEATTLE — The financially strapped U.S. Postal Service is proposing to cut its workforce by 20 percent and to withdraw from the federal health and retirement plans because it believes it could provide benefits at a lower cost.
The layoffs would be achieved in part by breaking labor agreements, a proposal that drew swift fire from postal unions. The plan would require congressional approval but, if successful, could be precedent-setting, with possible ripple effects throughout government. It would also deliver a major blow to the nation’s labor movement.
In a notice informing employees of its proposals — with the headline “Financial crisis calls for significant actions” — the Postal Service said, “We will be insolvent next month due to significant declines in mail volume and retiree health benefit pre-funding costs imposed by Congress.”

Electronic skin tattoo has medical, gaming, spy uses

Aug 11 03:43 PM US/Eastern

A hair-thin electronic patch that adheres to the skin like a temporary tattoo could transform medical sensing, computer gaming and even spy operations, according to a US study published Thursday.

The micro-electronics technology, called an epidermal electronic system (EES), was developed by an international team of researchers from the United States, China and Singapore, and is described in the journal Science.

"It's a technology that blurs the distinction between electronics and biology," said co-author John Rogers, a professor in materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Cynthia McKinney's Anti-America Trips Funded By Iran?

Posted by Brian

At what point does her anti-America rhetoric in places like Libya (while we are involved in military action with them), and Iran rise to the level  of sedition?  If it is proven that foreign governments which are hostile to the U.S. are funding her trips, she should be arrested and charged with treason, or if out of country, be refused entry back into the U.S. for life.  For those who would claim freedom of speech - Freedom of speech does not confer the right to undermine the government or give aid and comfort to enemies by spreading lies through the propaganda machines of those who would do us harm.

Carney: Unemployment Benefits Create Jobs

Arrogance shows through in answer to WSJ Reporter

"I understand why extending unemployment insurance provides relief to people who need it, but how does that create jobs," Wall Street Journal's Laura Meckler asked Jay Carney Wednesday's WH briefing.
Carney responded: "Oh, uh, it is by, uh, I would expect a reporter from the Wall Street Journal would know this as part of the entrance exam."
"There are few other ways that can directly put money into the economy than applying unemployment insurance," Carney said.

Along with the dripping arrogance in Carney's initial response, his aimless rambling in attempting to come up with a cogent answer to the reporter's question is illustrative of the Obama administration's economic illiteracy. To make the case that unemployment benefits "create" jobs is sophomoric in its illogic, and truly terrifying in that this is the spin being put out by the White House.

What is even more chilling is that I believe this President, and those around him, really believe what they are saying.
More of Carney's belligerence is on display in the video below:
