Is this what we have to look forward to with ObamaCare?

Sick toddler died after 70-minute wait at a GP surgery: I begged for help FIVE times but was ignored, says father

  • Lucie was taken to a doctors' surgery suffering from a fever
  • Mother's partner said he asked to be seen four or five times before asking staff to call for an ambulance
  • Lucie's heart stopped at surgery and attempts to resuscitate her in hospital failed

A seriously ill toddler died after a 70-minute wait in a GP’s surgery despite desperate pleas for her to be seen immediately by a doctor, her grief-stricken parents said yesterday.
Lucie Linforth was taken to her local practice after developing a severe cough and fever but was behind a queue of 20 patients.
Her father begged the receptionist five times to call a doctor as the 23-month-old began struggling to breathe and her lips turned blue, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

HHS Mandates "Free" Sterilization And Abortion-Inducing Drugs For College Age Women

Free Sterilizations Must be Offered to All College Women, Says HHS
By Terence P. Jeffrey March 17, 2012

(CNSNews.com) - All student health care plans covering female college students in the United States must include coverage for free voluntary sterilization surgery, the Department of Health and Human Services announced late Friday afternoon.
Women of college age who do not attend school will also get free sterilization coverage whether they are insured through an employer, their parents, or some form of government-subsidized plan.
All student health plans, HHS said Friday as it finalized a new regulation under the Affordable Care Act (otherwise known as Obamacare) must cover the full set of cost-free women’s “preventive services” that HHS ordered last month must be covered by all U.S. health care plans.

Obama's Contraception 'Compromise' Is A Smokescreen

Posted by Brian
President Obama is expected to announce a plan to "accommodate" religious groups over a mandate requiring religious institutions to provide birth control coverage in their health plans.  This new "compromise" is simply a rephrasing of what has already been mandated - the insurance carried by a religious institution must carry birth control , regardless of the religious tenets of the institution.  So, what we have is an administration issuing an edict which violates the First Amendment, now saying they are only going to violate Freedom of Religion by a half measure.  First, there are no half measures in the Bill of Rights.  This is an attempt by Obama to begin to dismantle the Constitution by piece meal.  He is going after Freedom of religion first, which makes sense.  The Bill of Rights are those rights which are God-given. To make this a "human rights" issue takes God out of the equation. If you take God out of the equation, God-given rights become secondary. It is now a humanist issue, which is the goal of all totalitarian governments.
This is a full frontal assault on the very moorings of this country, whose foundations are of a Judeo-Christian genesis. The Founding Fathers believed that all of our rights came from God. Obama and statists like him believe that rights are given to us by an all powerful central government.
This is not about women's health. This is Obama's attempt to take religion out of the public square and to begin to dismantle the very foundation of what made this the most free, powerful, and wealthy country on earth.

ABC: Obama to ‘accomodate’ religious groups over HHS mandate
Posted by  The Right Scoop on February 10th, 2012

ABC is reporting that the White House, possibly Obama, will attempt to ‘accommodate’ religious groups by announcing this afternoon that health insurance companies will ‘help’ provide the birth control coverage, which I assume means an absorption of the costs by the insurance companies themselves. But unlike Hawaii, religious groups still won’t be able to ‘opt out’ of the coverage:

Romney 2006: Health Care Mandates Necessary. To Do Otherwise "would be crazy"

Posted by Brian

Romney on Romneycare: First Subsidize, Then Mandate

(CNSNews.com) - In a presentation about his health-care reform plan delivered at the Heritage Foundationon Jan. 6, 2006, then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said that for his plan to work it would be necessary to first subsidize health insurance for a segment of the population not already receiving government health-care subsidies and then mandate that everyone in the state buy health insurance.
To do otherwise, Romney said, “would be crazy.” His speech was accompanied by a Powerpoint presentation that graphically laid out some of the basics of his proposal and the health insurance situation that then prevailed in Massachusetts.

Obama Admin Mandates Free Birth Control For All

Posted by Brian
The Obama administration continues to redefine "rights", as they march us closer and closer to the socialist abyss.  Their latest foray into dumbing down the term is to mandate that all health plans must provide free birth control for all, presumably under the assumption that birth control is a God-given right - no ovum left behind.
Most would agree that birth control pills are something that should be available for those that want them. But there are those institutions and organizations which are founded on certain religious principles to which this mandate contradicts those principles.  It is a slippery slope that the American people go down if we allow a central government to tell religious organizations that they must violate those tenets of their faith that the government deems are for the "collective" good.
This may seem a small nit-picky thing to cover for some, but the reality is that "universal" healthcare opens up the Pandora's box to allow the government access to every aspect of your life - what you eat (too much salt, fat?) , how much you eat (portion controls?), how much you weigh, what kind of lifestyle you live (do you smoke, engage in risky behavior?), etc.  Government healthcare is insidious in that it will determine the level of liberty you, and everyone around you, have by setting up committees that will determine what is acceptable risk, the amount of care you can receive based on all of these things, including age, and whether it is worth it to allow certain procedures or medications that you can receive. You wonder how much your life is worth? Don't worry, someone in the recesses of Washington will make that determination for you.

Health plans ordered to cover birth control without co-pays
By Julian Pecquet - 01/20/12 12:51 PM ET

Most healthcare plans will be required to cover birth control without charging co-pays or deductibles starting Aug. 1, the Obama administration announced Friday.

The final regulation retains the approach federal health officials proposed last summer, despite the deluge of complaints from religious groups and congressional Republicans that has poured in since then. Churches, synagogues and other houses of worship are exempt from the requirement, but religious-affiliated hospitals and universities only get a one-year delay and must comply by Aug. 1, 2013.

Obama Trying To Bypass Congress (Again!) To "Fix" ObamaCare Glitch

Posted by Brian
h/t to The Blaze

Another ObamaCare Glitch

Congress made a legal mistake while rushing through the health law. Now it's come back to haunt the administration.

Even if ObamaCare survives Supreme Court scrutiny next spring, its trials will be far from over. That's because the law has a major glitch that threatens its basic functioning. It's so problematic, in fact, that the Obama administration is now brazenly trying to rewrite the law without involving Congress.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act offers "premium assistance"—tax credits and subsidies—to households purchasing coverage through new health-insurance exchanges. This assistance was designed to hide a portion of the law's cost to individuals by reducing the premium hikes that individuals will face after ObamaCare goes into effect in 2014. (If consumers face the law's full cost, support for repeal will grow.)

ObamaCare Update: 4.5 Million Fewer Americans Now Have Health Care

Posted by Brian

Since Obamacare’s Passage, Millions Have Lost Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance

4:42 PM, Nov 11, 2011 • By JEFFREY H. ANDERSON

Throughout the Obamacare debate, President Obama repeatedly promised, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” Now, Gallup reports that from the first quarter of 2010 (when Obama signed Obamacare into law) to the third quarter of this year, 2 percent of American adults lost their employer sponsored health insurance. In other words, about 4.5 million Americans lost their employer-sponsored insurance over a span of just 18 months.
This is not what the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) had predicted would happen. Rather, the CBO had predicted that Obamacare would increase the number of people with employer-sponsored insurance by now.  It had predicted that, under Obamacare, 6 million more Americans would have employer-sponsored insurance in 2011 than in 2010 (see table 4, which shows the CBO’s projected increase of 3 million under (pre-Obamacare) current law and an additional 3 million under Obamacare). So the CBO’s rosy projections for Obamacare (and even these paint a frightening picture) are already proving false.

Postal Service proposes cutting 120,000 jobs, pulling out of health-care plan

By Joe Davidson, Updated: Thursday, August 11, 5:24 PM

SEATTLE — The financially strapped U.S. Postal Service is proposing to cut its workforce by 20 percent and to withdraw from the federal health and retirement plans because it believes it could provide benefits at a lower cost.
The layoffs would be achieved in part by breaking labor agreements, a proposal that drew swift fire from postal unions. The plan would require congressional approval but, if successful, could be precedent-setting, with possible ripple effects throughout government. It would also deliver a major blow to the nation’s labor movement.
In a notice informing employees of its proposals — with the headline “Financial crisis calls for significant actions” — the Postal Service said, “We will be insolvent next month due to significant declines in mail volume and retiree health benefit pre-funding costs imposed by Congress.”

So, Exactly What Does Constitute Tyranny?

Fried chicken with french friesImage via Wikipedia

To paraphrase a union chant: What does tyranny look like? This is what tyranny looks like!
When others can tell you what to eat, how many calories it can have in it, and how big the portions have to be, how is this not a form of tyranny?  I don't care if this is the health department or a Fatties United (F.U.) meeting.  As an individual, you should be the one dictating what goes into your body, not some do-gooder who claims that they are just trying to "help" you.  This is also a lesson in why it is a dangerous idea when government takes over health care.  By dictating what the "right foods" are to eat, and any number of other "behaviours" that may or may not be unhealthy, the government is given a defacto license to be tyrannical. If they own your body, then they own you.
Government health care hasn't even been fully implemented, and we are seeing kind of rules that can be imposed on individuals.  When one individual, or group of individuals, can dictate to other individuals what they can eat...well, if it walks like a Marxist and talks like a Marxist...

No French fries. Or freedom fries for that matter.

The New York City Health Department has issued new guidelines banning fried foods from its work-sponsored meals, telling employees to cut bagels and muffins in half, and saying that if cakes are served for a celebration, they can’t be coupled with cookies. According to the Health Department, it’s about being consistent.

ObamaCare - Full Speed Ahead

Kathleen Sebelius speaking after her official ...Image via Wikipedia
Posted by Brian
In direct defiance of a federal court order, Kathleen Sebelius and the Obama Administration continue to both fund and implement ObamaCare.  As part of an "educational outreach", because we are just too stupid to understand how wonderful ObamaCare is, HHS would increase its budget by $15.1M, over quadrupling its current budget, while increasing staffing by just under 50%.  This works out ot over $636,000 per new hire.  Ladies and gentlemen, your Obama administration looking after your money.  The arrogance, not to mention the criminal behavior, of this bunch is unbelievable.  Combined with Obama's new $3.7T budget proposal, the answer that we are getting from this administration in regards to the message sent by the American people on November 2nd, is "Screw You! We do what we want."  Are you pissed off yet?!

HHS looks to boost messaging efforts

By Jason Millman - 02/15/11 04:34 PM ET

The Obama administration health department office tasked with selling the healthcare reform law is looking to quadruple its budget while almost doubling the size of its staff.

Under the Department of Health and Human Services’ fiscal 2012 budget request, the assistant secretary for public affairs' office would get a bump from $4.8 million to $19.9 million in fiscal 2012. Meanwhile, the office would grow from 24 to 46 full-time equivalent employees.

Almost all of the new funding would be used to improve healthcare.gov and to conduct an educational outreach campaign “designed to help Americans understand and access their benefits and information under the law,” HHS wrote in its budget justification. The efforts were funded in fiscal 2010 and 2011 under the reform law, according to the budget document.

Obama Administration Continues to Violate Judges Orders

Kathleen Sebelius speaking after her official ...Image via Wikipedia
Posted by Brian
Even after a Federal Judge has found the Obama Administration in Contempt of Court, this administration goes full steam ahead spending taxpayer dollars on ObamaCare, in violation of the law.  Why are members of Congress not drawing up Articles of Impeachment on all members of this administration who are willfully, and with full knowledge, violating court orders. Until, and if, a higher court overturns this decision, the healthcare law is null and void, and no taxpayer funds are to be spent in implementing one aspect of it.  The Obama Administration is arrogant, and apparently believes that they are above the laws and the courts.  Somebody needs to have the cojones to bring this lawless bunch back down to earth.

Obama Administration Continues Spending Taxpayer Money Authorized by a Law Declared Unconstitutional

Thursday, February 10, 2011 By Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - A federal judge in Florida recently ruled that the entire health care law is unconstitutional – a ruling Judge Roger Vinson described as “the functional equivalent of an injunction.” But that hasn't stopped the Obama administration from spending hundreds of millions of dollars authorized by the disputed law.

On Wednesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced a $750 million investment in prevention and public health -- funded through the Prevention and Public Health Fund, which was created by the new health care law.

Dems To Thomas: Recuse Yourself From ObamaCare Case

Posted by Brian

Democrats, attempting to divert attention from Elena Kagan, sent a letter to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas asking him to recuse himself from the upcoming case involving the constitutionality of ObamaCare.  Their reasoning is that Thomas's wife Ginny worked for the Heritage Foundation, which opposed the health care law.  This completely ignores Elena Kagan's possible role in the architecture of the health care law while working as legal counsel for President Obama, a much more serious issue, as she may actually have fingerprints on the healthcare law.  If so, how could SHE be unbiased in her hearing the case?  Jay Sekulow has it right, though.  Worry about getting five votes.  The rst is political grandstanding.

Obama Administration - Serial Violaters of the Law

Posted by Brian
February 7, 2011

The Obama Administration, in all of its arrogance, is choosing to ignore the decision passed down by a federal judge declaring ObamaCare unconstitutional and that the "entire act must be declared void" (Pg 75 and 76 of the ruling - see transcript below).  What we have is a President and an Administration choosing to willfully violate the law.  This is the second time that this administration has blatantly ignored court orders, the other being the Obama Administration's willful continuation of a deep-water drilling moratorium, in violation of a court order in that case. Yet, most of the media is silent on this, or knowingly mis-reporting the facts in both of these cases.
This bunch in the White House, along with their propagadists in the mainstream media, have gone beyond sheer arrogance and are now entering behavior that is criminal.  The President and all of his appointees took an oath to "Uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States".  When they knowingly violate that oath of office, how is that not an impeachable offense?  At what point do the people of this country say "enough is enough" and demand that this lawless Government and its officials be held accountable?
For those of you who wanted "change" from this bunch of leftists - this is what it looks like.  A government with complete disregard for laws and the Constitution of the United States.

Democrats push Obamacare despite being ruled unconstitutional

February 4th, 2011 2:47 pm PT

Although ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge, Democrats plan to continue implementating the health care law known as Obamacare.

“It is as though the Constitution doesn't matter,” Rush Limbaugh said on his Thursday radio program.

Newsbusters reports Friday that radio talk show host Mark Levin – himself an attorney - had harsh words for the Obama administration:

I said that if the administration failed to follow the law, then it was lawless. (I said that) it was violating the constitution, that this was a serious as Watergate.

... There it is on Page 75. He voided the law. It's dust. It's gone, until a higher court does something else.

What's "Activist" About Following The Constitution?

Posted by Brian
Liberals are in full panic mode after the decision by a Florida District Court Judge that declared ObamaCare unconstitutional, based on the bill's individual mandate that forces individuals to purchase health insurance. The liberal argument is that the federal government has the power to force every individual to buy insurance under the Commerce Clause (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3) of the U.S.Constitution. Their argument is that if a person does not purchase insurance, thus they are not engaged in the trade of a good or service, that by not engaging in commerce, they are engaging in commerce.  This is the type of reasoning that liberals hail as "deep" thinking.  There is something "deep" alright, but it is not thinking.
Liberals also like to use the illogical example of persons being forced to purchase car insurance to buttress their point that the government can force you to purchase a good or service. What they invariably leave out of their point is:
1) You don't have to buy or drive a vehicle.  This is a voluntary act.  You may choose to walk, ride a bike, or take public transportation.  2) If you buy a vehicle and own it outright, and you don't drive it on public roads (i.e. a duty vehicle on a private ranch or farm), you are not required to purchase insurance on the vehicle. 3) Car insurance is to protect the other people that you share the road with, not to protect you per se.
It's funny that liberals think that a judge who actualy cites the Constitution when rendering an opinion is considered an "activist", yet when a judge makes a ruling citing the "emanations and penumbras" of the Constitution (read: they couldn't find anything actually "in" the words of the Constitution), he or she is lauded as "brilliant".  Why, it's amazing that we should even be allowed to breath the same rarefied air that they do, such is their intellectual prowess.
Watch as the media and liberals twist and contort themselves into knots in the weeks and months leading up to the final showdown at the Supreme Court.
If the Supreme Court finds for the states', and rules that the law is unconstitutional, liberals like Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow may end up resembling characters out of the movie "Scanners".

Liberals Describe Monday’s Health Care Ruling As ‘Judicial Activism’ by Conservatives

Tuesday, February 01, 2011
By Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - A federal judge's decision to strike down the Democrats' health care law is a "deviation from decades of settled law" and the conservative version of "judicial activism," liberals say.

But conservatives say striking down an unconstitutional law is not the same thing as legislating from the bench.

U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson of the Northern District of Florida ruled on Monday that the individual mandate requiring individuals to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional, and because this provision cannot be severed from the law's other provisions, the entire health care law must be struck down.

The White House called the ruling "a plain case of judicial overreaching."

Obama Moving To Center?

Posted by Brian
For those who think that President Obama is in the process of moving his agenda to the center, ala Bill Clinton, one need look no farther than his re-nomination of Donald Berwick to run the nation's healthcare system.  Berwick is a far-left socialist who supports healthcare rationing and redistribution of wealth.Obama hasn'tmoderated his positions, he has simply toned down the rhetoric.  His goals are still the same.  His agenda just as radical. This nomination proves it.

Sen. Rand Paul: Medicare Chief Berwick Is Qualified to Run Health Care System -- In England or Sweden

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that Dr. Donald Berwick, re-nominated this week by President Obama to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is qualified to oversee a nationwide health care system in England or Sweden.

“I think Don Berwick would be a great head of health care in maybe England or Sweden or something,” Paul, an ophthalmologist, told CNSNews.com about Berwick, a pediatrician. “He said he admires the British system, so I think maybe we should nominate him to be head of the British system. In America, we have always thought a little bit differently.”

Health Secretary Sebelius: ‘There is no taxpayer funding for abortion’

By Jason Millman - 01/21/11 04:34 PM ET

A day after House Republicans laid out an ambitious agenda limiting abortion, President Obama’s top health official strongly denied the notion that the federal government funds the procedure.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the Democrats’ sweeping healthcare reform law does not fund abortions, and that no president’s administration has since the Hyde Amendment passed more than 30 years ago.

“There is no taxpayer funding for abortion,” Sebelius told The Hill in a sit-down interview Friday. “Not at community health centers, not as part of the new bill, not as any part of any services that we deliver.”

House Republicans passed a bill to repeal President Barack Obama’s health care plan Wednesday, taking their first major step toward rolling back the massive overhaul that has dominated the American political landscape for almost two years.

The vote was 245 to 189, and unanimous GOP support gave the vote the same partisan feel of the March vote to pass the law, underscoring once again the hardened political lines of the health care debate. Only three Democrats backed the repeal, a smaller number than Republicans had once predicted.

Health Care Repeal: ...And Then The Scare Tactics Return

Posted by Brian
BOHICA - Bend over. Here it comes again.  Kathleen Sebelius upped the ante on scaring the bejeezus our of people regarding universal health care, warning that up to 129 million people could be denied health care if ObamaCare is repealed.  During the original debate, we "needed" this bill to insure the 40 - 50 million that they claimed didn't have health insurance, though the bill itself only insure about 17 million of those 40 - 40 million.  Now she is warning that up to 3 times that amount would be affected.  Where does she get her numbers?  Why, it's from her own department studies, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  Is it possible that she and her department are manipulating the data (cooking the books) run out to the cameras and give the Democrats their latest talking point in this debate.  Bet on it.

Obama Administration Warns, ‘129 Million Americans With a Pre-Existing Condition Could Be Denied Coverage Without New Health Reform Law’

Tuesday, January 18, 2011
By Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) – With a health care repeal vote scheduled for Wednesday in the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives, the Obama administration is warning Americans of dire consequences if the Democrats’ law is repealed, defunded or gutted.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius framed the Democrats’ argument in a news release on Monday.

Sebelius pointed to a new analysis – done by her own department -- showing that without the Affordable Care Act, up to 129 million non-elderly Americans who have some type of pre-existing health condition would be at risk of losing health insurance or being denied coverage altogether.
