NANNY STATE: ObamaCare Sics FDA Regs On Vending Machines

Posted by Brian

Remember Nancy Pelosi drooling spittle, stuttering, and blathering on about  "we have to pass the bill so you can find out what's in it"?  Well, it's all starting to ooze out.  Sort of like puss out of a festering sore.
Pretty soon the machine you get your soda, snack, or sandwich from is going to be required to tell you all of the nutritional info of the products it dispenses. You know - calories, fat content, serving size, yada, yada yada.
You say, "That a good thing, right?"
Not so fast.  This applies to every vendor in the United States with 20 or more machines. Many of these, and there are approximately 11,000,  are small businesses and vendors.
Health advocates say it will help people make better choices. Right!! Because we all know that we go to vending machines based on the cornucopia of healthy nutrition options.  "Should I have the honey buns or the powdered donuts?"  "Which is better for me - Red Bull or Monster?"
What it's going to do is create more businesses to go under, and thus even more unemployment.
"Why is that?"  I'm glad you asked.  Because the mandate does not require that a sticker be put on the machine (which wouldn't be feasible anyway, due to high turnover of product), but software updates  to display the info.  One vendor says the cost is about "$500 per machine" to update their software to comply with the new standards.  An average vendor who owns about 300 machines would have to pay $150K to bring his machines into compliance, not including maintenance costs to change the programs if he updates his product line.  Ultimately, this cost will be "passed on to the consumer".
Of course, you can only pass on the cost if the consumer still feels the price is reasonable to pay. Likely, the higher cost will cause people to find other alternatives.
This was exactly the argument against the nanny state and Obamacare.  If the State takes over the healthcare of it's citizens, it is then able to get it's tentacles into every aspect of your life - from your eating habits, what kind of cars we can drive, foods we can or can't buy based on our weight or body fat percentage, or carbon taxes based on weight.
It's not here yet, but if we don't turn this ship around, it will be coming - and a whole lot more. What is certain is that the soda or bag of chips you want to get on your break at work just got more expensive.

ObamaCare: You Can't Keep Your Prescriptions Either!

Posted by Brian

So far, you can't keep your:

  • Current Health Plan
  • Doctor
  • Hospital
  • Prescription Drugs
Oh, and by the way, you won't save $2500 per year in premiums.  Instead your will be forced into a more expensive plan with higher deductibles and fewer benefits.

If a private company were to have sold this to the American people telling the same lies that Obama and the Democrats have told, their CEO and executives would be going to jail.

No, You Can't Keep Your Drugs Either Under Obamacare

The President famously promised that you could keep your health plan and doctor. For many people, both of those pledges are turning out to be false. And now, you might not be able to keep your medicine, either.

There are two reasons why. The first has to do with the higher out of pocket costs patients will face. The second issue may be even more significant.

Simply put, many drugs may not be covered at all, and the costs patients incur by buying them with cash won’t count against out of pocket caps. This has repercussions for drug makers with big portfolios of specialty and primary care drugs (more on that later). But most of all, it has implications for patients.

Drugs on your health plan’s formulary will typically have fixed co-pays. These costs usually count toward your deductible and the out of pocket and lifetime limits on the total amount of money that your health plan can ask you to spend.

ObamaCare Architect: If You Like Your Doctor, You Can Pay More To Keep Him

ObamaCare Architect Ezekiel Emanuel when pressed by Chris Wallace on President Obama's "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor", told him  "The President never said you were going to have unlimited choice of any doctor in the country you want to go to," and "If you like your Doctor, you can pay more".  That wasn't the question, Zeke!

Zeke Emmanuel proves to be just as slimy, and as big a liar as his corrupt brother. He knows damn well that if the President had presented the American people with this argument, hardly anyone would have supported ObamaCare.  Zeke Emmanuel doesn't even answer the questions.  He completely changes the premise and expects no one to notice.  This guys slimier than a used scumbag at a Thai massage parlor.

CNN: Obama Bullying Insurance Companies Who Criticize ObamaCare

Posted by Brian

Obama might not be the best friend of Israel, but he certainly likes the tactics of the Nazi's, ruling through fear and intimidation.

On CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, correspondent Drew Griffin stated that insurance companies "fear" the White House if they speak out against ObamaCare:

"Anderson, what’s going on is behind the scenes attempt by the White House to at least keep insurers from publicly criticizing what is happening on this Affordable Care Act rollout. Basically, if you speak out, if you are quoted, you’re going to get a call from the White House, pressure to be quiet. Several sources tell me and my colleague Chris Frates that insurance executives are being told to keep quiet".

"Bob Laszewski who heads the Health Policy Strategy Associates, a consulting firm for big insurers, and an outspoken critic of ObamaCare, says he is getting calls from these executives who want him to speak out, Anderson, for them about the problems because they feel defenseless against the White House PR team. Laszewski told me today, “The White House is exerting massive pressure on the industry, including the trade associations, to keep quiet.” Sources telling us they fear White House retribution".

HE LIED! Obama Knew 3 Years Ago Millions Would Lose Their Health Insurance!

Posted by Brian

All that time in 2009 that President Obama was going around the country campaigning for the Affordable Care Act, and as late as 2012 while defending it, Barack Obama told Americans “if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan."  Yeah, well not so much.  It seems that Barack Obama, Jay Carney, and the rest of his "transparent" administration knew this statement was not true over three years ago.
Courtesy of SavingTheRepublic.com

Where I come from, that is called lying.
Worse, Obama and the Democrats told the American people that those who pointed out this would happen, along with a host of other really bad things about the ACA, were the ones who were lying. We were told they were engaged in fear-mongering, scaring old people, and essentially being either uninformed, or they were heartless, mean, or un-Christian.  Suddenly, godless liberals were born-again, asking "what would Jesus do?"  All of a sudden, the left embraces Jesus, claiming he is a socialist, proving the old adage that politics makes strange bedfellows.
We can certainly debate whether Jesus was a socialist or not, but there is one thing that Jesus would not do.  Jesus wouldn't lie to people to advance his agenda.
However, there is a religion which does advocate lying and deception in furtherance of their agenda and faith.  Just saying.

Obama administration knew millions could not keep their health insurance

By Lisa Myers and Hannah Rappleye, NBC News

President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC News that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.”

None of this should come as a shock to the Obama administration. The law states that policies in effect as of March 23, 2010 will be “grandfathered,” meaning consumers can keep those policies even though they don’t meet requirements of the new health care law. But the Department of Health and Human Services then wrote regulations that narrowed that provision, by saying that if any part of a policy was significantly changed since that date -- the deductible, co-pay, or benefits, for example -- the policy would not be grandfathered.

Buried in Obamacare regulations from July 2010 is an estimate that because of normal turnover in the individual insurance market, “40 to 67 percent” of customers will not be able to keep their policy. And because many policies will have been changed since the key date, “the percentage of individual market policies losing grandfather status in a given year exceeds the 40 to 67 percent range.”
That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.

Yet President Obama, who had promised in 2009, “if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan,” was still saying in 2012, “If [you] already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”

“This says that when they made the promise, they knew half the people in this market outright couldn’t keep what they had and then they wrote the rules so that others couldn’t make it either,” said  Robert Laszewski, of Health Policy and Strategy Associates, a consultant who works for health industry firms. Laszewski estimates that 80 percent of those in the individual market will not be able to keep their current policies and will have to buy insurance that meets requirements of the new law, which generally requires a richer package of benefits than most policies today.

What Does It Say? Duke Professor Breaks Down ObamaCare Into Language Anyone Can Understand

Posted by Brian
John David Louis, a Professor of Classics at Duke University, and a fine example of a citizen journalist, took a look at the "Affordable Care Act" and published his analysis on his site Classical Ideals in 2009, in language and terms that everyone can understand.
More prescient than he even knew.

The Health Care Bill: What HR 3200, ‘‘America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009,” Says
John David Lewis
classicalideals@yahoo.com
August 6, 2009

What does the bill, HR 3200, short-titled ‘‘America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009,” actually say about major health care issues? I here pose a few questions in no particular order, citing relevant passages and offering a brief evaluation after each set of passages.

This bill is 1017 pages long. It is knee-deep in legalese and references to other federal regulations and laws. I have only touched pieces of the bill here. For instance, I have not considered the establishment of (1) “Health Choices Commissioner” (Section 141); (2) a “Health Insurance Exchange,” (Section 201), basically a government run insurance scheme to coordinate all insurance activity; (3) a Public Health Insurance Option (Section 221); and similar provisions.

Although I am an associate professor in the Philosophy, Politics and Economics program at Duke University, this document is neither an academic nor a professional analysis. This is the evaluation of someone who is neither a physician nor a legal professional. I asked some simple questions about the bill, considered them in context with the overall structure, definitions, and procedures in the bill, and quoted only the immediate passages involved. I am citizen, concerned about this bill’s effects on my freedom as an American. I would rather have used my time in other ways—but this is too important to ignore.

We may answer one question up front: How will the government will pay for all this? Higher taxes, more borrowing, printing money, cutting payments, or rationing services—there are no other options.  We will all pay for this, enrolled in the government “option” or not.

(All bold type within the text of the bill is added for emphasis.)

1.      1.  WILL THE PLAN RATION MEDICAL CARE?

This is what the bill says, pages 284-288, SEC. 1151. REDUCING POTENTIALLY PREVENTABLE HOSPITAL READMISSIONS:

‘(ii) EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN READMISSIONS.—For purposes of clause (i), with respect to a hospital, excess readmissions shall not include readmissions for an applicable condition for which there are fewer than a minimum number (as determined by the Secretary) of discharges for such applicable condition for the applicable period and such hospital.

and, under “Definitions”:

‘‘(A) APPLICABLE CONDITION.—The term ‘applicable condition’ means, subject to subparagraph (B), a condition or procedure selected by the Secretary . . .

and:

‘‘(E) READMISSION.—The term ‘readmission’ means, in the case of an individual who is discharged from an applicable hospital, the admission of the individual to the same or another applicable hospital within a time period specified by the Secretary from the date of such discharge.

and:

‘‘(6) LIMITATIONS ON REVIEW.—There shall be no administrative or judicial review under section 1869, section 1878, or otherwise of— . . .
‘‘(C) the measures of readmissions . . .

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:
1.       This section amends the Social Security Act
2.      The government has the power to determine what constitutes an “applicable [medical] condition.”
3.      The government has the power to determine who is allowed readmission into a hospital.
4.      This determination will be made by statistics: when enough people have been discharged for the same condition, an individual may be readmitted.
5.      This is government rationing, pure, simple, and straight up.
6.      There can be no judicial review of decisions made here. The Secretary is above the courts.
7.      The plan also allows the government to prohibit hospitals from expanding without federal permission: page 317-318.

2.                  WILL THE PLAN PUNISH AMERICANS WHO TRY TO OPT OUT?

What the bill says, pages 167-168, section 401, TAX ON INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ACCEPTABLE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE:

‘‘(a) TAX IMPOSED.—In the case of any individual who does not meet the requirements of subsection (d) at any time during the taxable year, there is hereby imposed a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the excess of—
(1) the taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross income for the taxable year, over
(2) the amount of gross income specified in section 6012(a)(1) with respect to the taxpayer. . . .”

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGE:

1.      This section amends the Internal Revenue Code.
2.      Anyone caught without acceptable coverage and not in the government plan will pay a special tax.
3.      The IRS will be a major enforcement mechanism for the plan.

3.                  WHAT CONSTITUTES “ACCEPTABLE” COVERAGE?

Here is what the bill says, pages 26-30, SEC. 122, ESSENTIAL BENEFITS PACKAGE DEFINED:

 (a) IN GENERAL.—In this division, the term ‘‘essential benefits package’’ means health benefits coverage, consistent with standards adopted under section 124 to ensure the provision of quality health care and financial security . . .

(b) MINIMUM SERVICES TO BE COVERED.—The items and services described in this subsection are the following:
(1) Hospitalization.
(2) Outpatient hospital and outpatient clinic services . . .
 (3) Professional services of physicians and other health professionals.
 (4) Such services, equipment, and supplies incident to the services of a physician’s or a health professional’s delivery of care . . .
(5) Prescription drugs.
(6) Rehabilitative and habilitative services.
(7) Mental health and substance use disorder services.
(8) Preventive services . . .
(9) Maternity care.
(10) Well baby and well child care . . .

 (c) REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO COST-SHARING AND MINIMUM ACTUARIAL VALUE . . .

(3) MINIMUM ACTUARIAL VALUE.—
(A) IN GENERAL.—The cost-sharing under the essential benefits package shall be designed to provide a level of coverage that is designed to provide benefits that are actuarially equivalent to approximately 70 percent of the full actuarial value of the benefits provided under the reference benefits package described in subparagraph (B).

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1.      The bill defines “acceptable coverage” and leaves no room for choice in this regard.
2.      By setting a minimum 70%  actuarial value of benefits, the bill makes health plans in which individuals pay for routine services, but carry insurance only for catastrophic events, (such as Health Savings Accounts) illegal.

4.                  WILL THE PLAN DESTROY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE?

Here is what it requires, for businesses with payrolls greater than $400,000 per year. (The bill uses “contribution” to refer to mandatory payments to the government plan.)  Pages 149-150, SEC. 313, EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTIONS IN LIEU OF COVERAGE

(a) IN GENERAL.—A contribution is made in accordance with this section with respect to an employee if such contribution is equal to an amount equal to 8 percent of  the average wages paid by the employer during the period of enrollment (determined by taking into account all employees of the employer and in such manner as the Commissioner provides, including rules providing for the appropriate aggregation of related employers). Any such contribution—

(1) shall be paid to the Health Choices Commissioner for deposit into the Health Insurance Exchange Trust Fund, and
(2) shall not be applied against the premium of the employee under the Exchange-participating health benefits plan in which the employee is enrolled.

(The bill then includes a sliding scale of payments for business with less than $400,000 in annual payroll.)

The Bill also reserves, for the government, the power to determine an acceptable benefits plan: page 24, SEC. 115. ENSURING ADEQUACY OF PROVIDER NETWORKS.

5 (a) IN GENERAL.—A qualified health benefits plan that uses a provider network for items and services shall meet such standards respecting provider networks as the Commissioner may establish to assure the adequacy of such networks in ensuring enrollee access to such items and services and transparency in the cost-sharing differentials between in-network coverage and out-of-network coverage.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1.      The bill does not prohibit a person from buying private insurance.
2.      Small businesses—with say 8-10 employees—will either have to provide insurance to federal standards, or pay an 8% payroll tax. Business costs for health care are higher than this, especially considering administrative costs. Any competitive business that tries to stay with a private plan will face a payroll disadvantage against competitors who go with the government “option.”
3.      The pressure for business owners to terminate the private plans will be enormous.
4.      With employers ending plans, millions of Americans will lose their private coverage, and fewer companies will offer it.
5.      The Commissioner (meaning, always, the bureaucrats) will determine whether a particular network of physicians, hospitals and insurance is acceptable.
6.      With private insurance starved, many people enrolled in the government “option” will have no place else to go.

5.                  DOES THE PLAN TAX SUCCESSFUL AMERICANS MORE THAN OTHERS?

Here is what the bill says, pages 197-198, SEC. 441. SURCHARGE ON HIGH INCOME INDIVIDUALS

‘‘SEC. 59C. SURCHARGE ON HIGH INCOME INDIVIDUALS.
‘‘(a) GENERAL RULE.—In the case of a taxpayer other than a corporation, there is hereby imposed (in addition to any other tax imposed by this subtitle) a tax equal to—
‘‘(1) 1 percent of so much of the modified adjusted gross income of the taxpayer as exceeds $350,000 but does not exceed $500,000,
‘‘(2) 1.5 percent of so much of the modified adjusted gross income of the taxpayer as exceeds $500,000 but does not exceed $1,000,000, and
‘‘(3) 5.4 percent of so much of the modified adjusted gross income of the taxpayer as exceeds $1,000,000.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGE:

1.      This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code.
2.      Tax surcharges  are levied on those with the highest incomes.
3.      The plan manipulates the tax code to redistribute their wealth.
4.      Successful business owners will bear the highest cost of this plan.

6.      6.  DOES THE PLAN ALLOW THE GOVERNMENT TO SET FEES FOR SERVICES?

What it says, page 124, Sec. 223, PAYMENT RATES FOR ITEMS AND SERVICES:

(d) CONSTRUCTION.—Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed as limiting the Secretary’s authority to correct for payments that are excessive or deficient, taking into account the provisions of section 221(a) and the amounts paid for similar health care providers and services under other Exchange-participating health benefits plans.

(e) CONSTRUCTION.—Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed as affecting the authority of the Secretary to establish payment rates, including payments to provide for the more efficient delivery of services, such as the initiatives provided for under section 224.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

The government’s authority to set payments is basically unlimited.
The official will decide what constitutes “excessive,” “deficient,” and “efficient” payments and services.

7.                  WILL THE PLAN INCREASE THE POWER OF GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS TO SCRUTINIZE OUR PRIVATE AFFAIRS?

What it says, pages 195-196, SEC. 431. DISCLOSURES TO CARRY OUT HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE SUBSIDIES.

‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary, upon written request from the Health Choices Commissioner or the head of a State-based health insurance exchange approved for operation under section 208 of the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, shall disclose to officers and employees of the Health Choices Administration or such State-based health insurance exchange, as the case may be, return information of any taxpayer whose income is relevant in determining any affordability credit described in subtitle C of title II of the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. Such return information shall be limited to—
‘‘(i) taxpayer identity information with respect to such taxpayer,
‘‘(ii) the filing status of such taxpayer,
‘‘(iii) the modified adjusted gross income of such taxpayer (as defined in section 59B(e)(5)),
‘‘(iv) the number of dependents of the taxpayer,
‘‘(v) such other information as is prescribed by the Secretary by regulation as might indicate whether the taxpayer is eligible for such affordability credits (and the amount thereof), and
‘‘(vi) the taxable year with respect to which the preceding information relates or, if applicable, the fact that such information is not available.

And, page 145, section 312, EMPLOYER RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS EMPLOYEE AND DEPENDENT COVERAGE:

(3) PROVISION OF INFORMATION.—The employer provides the Health Choices Commissioner, the Secretary of Labor, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the Secretary of the Treasury, as applicable, with such information as the Commissioner may require to ascertain compliance with the requirements of this section.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGE:

1.      This section amends the Internal Revenue Code
2.      The bill opens up income tax return information to federal officials.
3.      Any stated “limits” to such information are circumvented by item (v), which allows federal officials to decide what information is needed.
4.      Employers are required to report whatever information the government says it needs to enforce the plan.

8.      8.  DOES THE PLAN AUTOMATICALLY ENROLL AMERICANS IN THE GOVERNMENT PLAN?

What it says, page 102, Section 205, OUTREACH AND ENROLLMENT OF EXCHANGE-ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS AND EMPLOYERS IN EXCHANGE-PARTICIPATING HEALTH BENEFITS PLAN:

(3) AUTOMATIC ENROLLMENT OF MEDICAID ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS INTO MEDICAID.—The Commissioner shall provide for a process under which an individual who is described in section 202(d)(3) and has not elected to enroll in an Exchange-participating health benefits plan is automatically enrolled under Medicaid.

And, page 145, section 312:

(4) AUTOENROLLMENT OF EMPLOYEES.—The employer provides for autoenrollment of the employee in accordance with subsection (c).

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1.       Do nothing and you are in.
2.      Employers are responsible for automatically enrolling people who still work.

9.      9.  DOES THE PLAN EXEMPT FEDERAL OFFICIALS FROM COURT REVIEW?

What it says, page 124, Section 223, PAYMENT RATES FOR ITEMS AND SERVICES:

(f) LIMITATIONS ON REVIEW.—There shall be no administrative or judicial review of a payment rate or methodology established under this section or under section 224.

And, page 256, SEC. 1123. PAYMENTS FOR EFFICIENT AREAS.

‘‘(C) LIMITATION ON REVIEW.—There shall be no administrative or judicial review under section 1869, 1878, or otherwise, respecting—
‘‘(i) the identification of a county or other area under subparagraph (A); or
‘‘(ii) the assignment of a postal ZIP Code to a county or other area under subparagraph (B).

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1.      Sec. 1123 amends the Social Security Act, to allow the Secretary to identify areas of the country that underutilize the government’s plan “based on per capita spending.”
2.      Parts of the plan are set above the review of the courts.

Affordable Care Act is Actually Obama's 'Holy Grail', not GOP's

Posted by Brian

One has to wonder when the American people are going to wake up to the lies and hyperbole that vomit out of the mouth of Barack Obama on a nearly daily basis.  We know that the press is in a state of perpetual slumber under the spell of Rip van Obama, so invested are they in protecting this President.  However, there are indications that many Americans have snapped out of their 2008 "Obama is the messiah" trance as the scandals have piled up, and a majority now oppose ObamaCare, now that we've "(found) out what's in it".

Obama is now complaining (when isn't he complaining) of Republicans saying that they will not pass a spending bill unless the hugely unpopular ObamaCare is defunded.  So unpopular is ObamaCare, that even Democrats like Jimmy Hoffa and the unions are now opposing it.  Predictably, Obama goes to his favorite tactic of dividing and demonizing his opponents, claiming that the GOP wants to ensure "that 30 million people don't have healthcare", calling it their "holy grail", and claiming they have an "ideological fixation".

This is the language of the leftist, taken right out of Saul Alinski, Karl Marx, Fidel Castro, and every other communist and despot throughout history.  It is meant to paint a mental picture, no matter how distorted, of his opponents as heartless ogres hell-bent on seeing Americans suffer and die.

Of course, this isn't new.  Democrats have long used this tactic to demonize Republicans on environmental issues, entitlement reform, immigration, and abortion.

How many times have we heard that the GOP wants to "starve children", as part and parcel of their debate over the federal school lunch program?  Or, that Republicans want dirty water and dirty air when the issue is job-killing radical environmentalist legislation?  Conservatives want to see women die in "back-alley" abortions, and tear apart families of illegal immigrants who flood into the country.

Does anyone honestly believe that the Party of Lincoln wants to kill women and children, poison the water supply, and pollute the environment? An intellectually honest person would have to admit that these are just slogans by a Democrat Party which does not want an honest debate on the merits of what they support, and so chooses to hurl baseless accusations as their debating tactic.

Sadly, for a dumbed-down, low-information electorate who react emotionally rather than intellectually, hyperbole is effective.

So it is that we have the Divider-in-Chief, Barack Obama, now claiming that Republicans want 30 million Americans to go without healthcare.  That is, evil Republicans want 30 million of you to die! But, where does Obama get this 30 million figure? What he fails to  acknowledge to his legions is that this 30 million figure comes from the Congressional Budget Office who determined that ObamaCare itself would leave that number uninsured. This, after claiming that failure to pass ObamaCare would keep 30 million Americans uninsured.

Obama goes on to claim that defunding or repealing ObamaCare is the "Holy Grail" of for the GOP, while neglecting to admit that it was he and the Democrat Party who rammed through his signature piece of legislation without a single Republican vote, and half of the country opposing the bill at the time it was passed.

In the four years hence, opposition to ObamaCare has strengthened, with polls showing over 50% favor full repeal of the law.  Even prior to the 2012 election, Gallup reported that 87% of Republicans, 43% of Independents, and 14% Democrats strongly or somewhat opposed ObamaCare, with 47% of all Americans favoring full repeal of the law.

Republican opposition to the law reflects the growing dissatisfaction and concerns of the American electorate, while it is Obama who is continuing to ram this down the throat of Americans who indicate that they don't want it.

Who is it, Mr. President, who really sees this law as the Holy Grail?

DC Lawmakers Seek to Exempt Themselves From ObamaCare, Siting High Cost

Posted by Brian

Lawmakers in both the House and the Senate, seeing the impending disaster that is Obamacare, are scrambling to exempt themselves and their staffers from the exorbitant cost increase which is scheduled to hit next year.
Politico reports, "Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks" to exempt themselves and their staffers from the increased costs.  "Confidential"? You mean, meeting behind closed doors to hide what they're doing from the American people?   Say it isn't so!
God forbid that, realizing this monstrosity of a "health care" bill does exactly the opposite of what they advertised, which was to hold down costs and premiums, they actually do the right thing and defund the entire damn thing for everyone, but instead seek to provide a work-around for themselves and the politically well-connected.
Your elected leaders and representatives working "for the people"? Riiiiiiiiight!

CBO: 30 Million Uninsured Under ObamaCare: So What Was The Point?

Posted by Brian
So after all of the promises and all of the demonization of the opponents of ObamaCare, it turns out that  30 MILLION will still be uninsured?  What about EVERYBODY will have access to "affordable" insurance? So, under Obama's brilliant plan 30 million people will slip through the cracks?
Don't forget, this plan is going to add trillions of dollars to the already bloated debt. And now that Obama has virtually opened the doors of the United States to any and all comers with his amnesty order, I'm thinking the CBO is probably low-balling this 30 million number.

Obama. ObamaCare. Obamamnesty. Obamageddon. This is what "fundamental change" looks like.

And remember: He said he's "just getting started"!

CBO: Obamacare Will Leave 30 Million Uninsured
By Patrick Burke August 8, 2012

(CNSNews.com) -- A new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report says that under the Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, 30 million non-elderly Americans will remain without health insurance in 2022.

One of the main arguments the Obama administration made for passing the Affordable Care Act was that it would provide coverage for the uninsured.

Currently, accoriding to CBO, there are 53 million uninsured persons in the United States, including uninsured illegal aliens. The CBO estimates that in 2022--8 years after the Affordable Care Act has been fully implemented--30 million people will remain uninsured.

Employers Begin Plans To Drop Employee Health Coverage

Posted by Brian

"If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan."
Barack Obama - 2009

During the healthcare debate, Barack Obama and the Democrats told the American people that opponents claims of employers would drop employee healthcare plans were "untrue", and "scare" tactics.  Well, according to the latest survey, nearly 10% of employers are going to do exactly that in the next 3 years, while another 10% saying they are not sure, and they are waiting to see how the law affects them.

What does this mean to those Americans whose employers "opt out" of providing coverage?  Well, congratulations! You are now forced into the government plan.  Failure to obtain insurance will result in fines administered by the IRS.

"But why would my employer drop my coverage?  Don't they have to pay a fine if they don't?"  The answer is: Yes, they do.  But the fines are less than the actual cost of covering you covering you. Form a business standpoint, it is a no-brainer. This is not an accident.  It was intentionally written into the bill that way.  Initially, you may be able to obtain private insurance, but as private sector insurance companies, which will have premium caps, begin to go under due to government mandates, more and more Americans will be forced into the government exchanges.  The goal of ObamaCare is to eliminate private insurance.

Currently, nearly 20% of employers are either planning to drop coverage, or are taking a wait and see attitude.  As more details of the plan come out, expect this percentage to skyrocket, and your options to decrease.
