As if to poke a stick in the eye of the American taxpayer, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid named arguably the biggest tax and spend liberals in Congress to the new Deficit Reduction Panel, including John "I served in Vietnam" Kerry. The Boehner and McConnell appointees don't realyy thrill me. Kyl has been wishy-washy of late, and Toomey doesn't give me a warm fuzzy either. Jim Demint and Allen West, and a few of the 24 who held their ground, under incredible pressure from the leadership, would have made me much more confident in the outcome.

(CNSNews.com) - All six Democrats that have been assigned to the special joint congressional committee that will recommend means for cutting the nation’s anticipated spending by $1.5 trillion over the next ten years compiled voting records last year that earned them grades of “F” from the National Taxpayers Union (NTU).
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) announced today that she has assigned Assistant Democratic Leader James E. Clyburn (S.C.), Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Xavier Becerra (Calif.) and Budget Committee Ranking Member Chris Van Hollen (Md.) to serve on the panel. Previously, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had named Sen. Patty Murray (Wash.), Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) and Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (Mont.) to serve on the committee.

Postal Service proposes cutting 120,000 jobs, pulling out of health-care plan

SEATTLE — The financially strapped U.S. Postal Service is proposing to cut its workforce by 20 percent and to withdraw from the federal health and retirement plans because it believes it could provide benefits at a lower cost.
The layoffs would be achieved in part by breaking labor agreements, a proposal that drew swift fire from postal unions. The plan would require congressional approval but, if successful, could be precedent-setting, with possible ripple effects throughout government. It would also deliver a major blow to the nation’s labor movement.
In a notice informing employees of its proposals — with the headline “Financial crisis calls for significant actions” — the Postal Service said, “We will be insolvent next month due to significant declines in mail volume and retiree health benefit pre-funding costs imposed by Congress.”

Electronic skin tattoo has medical, gaming, spy uses

A hair-thin electronic patch that adheres to the skin like a temporary tattoo could transform medical sensing, computer gaming and even spy operations, according to a US study published Thursday.

The micro-electronics technology, called an epidermal electronic system (EES), was developed by an international team of researchers from the United States, China and Singapore, and is described in the journal Science.

"It's a technology that blurs the distinction between electronics and biology," said co-author John Rogers, a professor in materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Carney: Unemployment Benefits Create Jobs

Arrogance shows through in answer to WSJ Reporter

"I understand why extending unemployment insurance provides relief to people who need it, but how does that create jobs," Wall Street Journal's Laura Meckler asked Jay Carney Wednesday's WH briefing.
Carney responded: "Oh, uh, it is by, uh, I would expect a reporter from the Wall Street Journal would know this as part of the entrance exam."
"There are few other ways that can directly put money into the economy than applying unemployment insurance," Carney said.

Along with the dripping arrogance in Carney's initial response, his aimless rambling in attempting to come up with a cogent answer to the reporter's question is illustrative of the Obama administration's economic illiteracy. To make the case that unemployment benefits "create" jobs is sophomoric in its illogic, and truly terrifying in that this is the spin being put out by the White House.

What is even more chilling is that I believe this President, and those around him, really believe what they are saying.

Are Race Based Attacks On The Rise?

A group of white supremacists kill a 49 year old black man in Mississippi, only three days after black teens target white victims at the the Wisconsin State Fair. A group of about thirty black men beat a white man, openly calling it "Beat Whitey Night", at the Iowa State Fair last August. This was not supposed to happen in Obama's 'post-partisan' world. Yet, it is happening. These aren't confrontations between groups of individuals. These vicious acts are targeted towards those whose only mistake was being a white or black person in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am afraid that these types of incidents are only going to get more frequent as political rhetoric intensifies leading up to the election in 2012. The demonization of the Tea Party is already under way. We are told that we are older white people who are racists, bigots, homophobes, anti-Mexican, and are compared to terrorists. Most who hurl these accusations have never been to a Tea Party event. If they had been, they would see that there are blacks, Hispanics, whites, men, women, old, young, Democrats, and Republicans. As with any large gathering there are going to be those who bring signs which are in bad taste, or even racist. At the events I have been to, those individuals have been asked to leave and that we are not supportive of those views. Of course, those are the signs that are featured on the news to further the notions of racist Tea Partiers. Lucky for us we are also treated to the likes of Janeane Garafolo, who apparently has designated herself to speak for every black in the country, saying the disagreeing with President Obama is "racism, straight up". I disagreed with President Clinton too, and we were told that he was the first black President, so I guess I have been a "racist straight up" since the early 90's.

With Obama continuing to use his rhetoric to divide by race, income status, and other means, pitting American against American, I have serious concerns that these incidents are only going to become more common, and involve larger numbers of people and victims.

Union Boss Trumka: Tea Party Trying To Destroy Government

Richard Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO, is a walking illustration of what is wrong with unions in this country. His statement that the Tea Party attempting to destroy the government is, at best, laughable. This comes from a main who is on record as being an ally of the Communist Party USA. If there is a group that would like to fundamentally change the United States, it would be the CPUSA. But according to Trumka, Americans who want a return to Constitutional government is making it hard for Obama to govern. This says a lot more about Barack Obama, if acting and governing within the constitution is cramping his style, than about Tea Partiers concerned with the direction that thier country is headed.

Prayer "In Jesus' Name" Banned In N. Carolina

The Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution has been dealt another blow by the U.S. 4th Circuit and the ACLU in North Carolina. Were they loaned a panel of judges from the ultra-liberal 9th Circuit?
The First Amendment states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The bastardization of this clause has led to everything from removing prayer in schools, to prohibiting valedictorians from saying a prayer at high school graduations. To atheists and those wanting to remove any mention of God in any public setting, the clause ends at "establishment of religion". They conveniently omit the phrase "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" portion of the clause. The clause was put there by the founders prohibit the federal government from establishing a state religion, not to remove any vestiges of religion from the public square. A reading of history would show that several of the original 13 states actually had "official" State religions, which the Constitution did not prohibit as it fell under "states rights". Eventually the states voluntarily removed the official state religions, but not because an activist federal court or judge ruled that they were required to, under the Constitution.
Moreover, to claim that somebody, including a priest or pastor who prays in a public forum, wuo ends a prayer with the phrase "in Jesus' name" is akin to government establishing an official religion strains the bounds of common sense.
Hopefully, the U.S. Supreme Court will have wisdom to overturn this completely backwards decision issued by the 4th Circuit.

TAPS: 25 Navy SEALS Killed In Afghanistan

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the 38 who were killed in the the crash of a Chinnook helicopter in eastern Afghanistan. The members were apparently part of a raid when it was reportedly shot down by Taliban fighters, who have claimed responsibility for the act. This is another sad reminder of the sacrifices that our brave men and women make every single day for the security of not only our country, but in unselfishly defending those who have not the means to defend themselves in far away countries from tyrannical religious zealots and despots.

Does this guy actually his own B.S. that flows from his lips? According to him, everything is out of his control. He's running around like Curly of the Three Stooges yelling "I'm a victim of circumstance!" Even the oil prices he says he has no control over! This after decimating oil drilling in the gulf with his moratorium, his refusal to drill in ANWR, or off the west coast, or off the east coast, and to go after coal companies, and letting the EPA run wld on the energy industry in general. Noooo, nothing to do with it. He's friggin' Pontius Pilate, washing his hands clean of every energy killing, job killing, and spirit killing policy he's put in place since he took office.
But all is well in Obamaland - he's got a $35,800 per couple birthday bash to give himself. Cake anyone?

Washington (CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama said the weak economy in the United States could be blamed partially on international events and natural disasters, such as the March 11 earthquake in Japan.

“That’s part of the reason that people are so frustrated with what’s been going on in this town,” Obama told reporters in the Rose Garden on Tuesday.

“In the last few months, the economy has already had to absorb an earthquake in Japan, the economic headwinds coming from Europe, the Arab Spring and the [rise] in oil prices -- all of which have been very challenging for the recovery. But these are things we couldn’t control.”

Recently, a federal government program called the Universal Service Fund came to the Keystone State and some residents are thrilled because it means they can enjoy 250 minutes a month and a handset for free, just because they don't have the money to pay for it. Through Assurance Wireless and SafeLink from Tracfone Wireless these folks get to reach out and touch someone while the cost of their service is paid for by everyone else. You see, the telecommunications companies are funding the Universal Service Fund to the tune of $4 billion a year because the feds said they have to and in order to recoup their money, the companies turn around and hike their fees to paying customers. But those of use paying for the free service for the poor, should be happy about this infuriating situation, says Gary Carter, manager of national partnerships for Assurance, because "the program is about peace of mind." Free cell service means "one less bill that someone has to pay, so they can pay their rent or for day care...it is a right to have peace of mind," Cater explained.

Today's Amerika - Another Child's Lemonade Stand Shut Down By Authorities

Growing up in the midwest it was not unusual to see young 7 or 8 year old entrepreneurs setting up lemonade stands on a hot day to give the occasional passerby a little refreshment from the day's heat. Sometimes the lemonade was a little sour or too sweet. Or maybe the ice had all melted and it wasn't cold enought to be refreshing. Regardless, the customer would give the kid a nickle or a dime, sometimes even tipping the young boy or girl. Occasionally, the "owner" of the lemonade stand would have trouble figuring out the right change. No matter. The customer would help out the little one, giving him or her a quick lesson in money handling. It wasn't the lemonade that was the draw. We all knew that the kids were learning valuable life lessons that they would use later on. Creating a product, customer service, supply and demand, handling money. Now, with all of the nanny state rules and regulations, we are taking these simple educational joys away from our youngsters. I have heard of at least 4 of these stories from aroundthe country in just the last several months. It may not seem like much, but people need to stand up to their city councils and insist that common sense be reinstituted into out lives. If they are not responsive, we need to put them out on their asses. Shutting down kids lemonade stands, forcing peole to remove American flags from their own property, and all of these little things will add up to a whole lot of tyranny if citizens don't take a stand.
It is time to stand up.

Meckler: Saying that these debates have hurt our image is absurd. What you currently see in Washington is one of the most responsible debates ever about the size and scope of government. The world should look at what is going on in the United States as a model for what should happen in all countries.

This troll would have all of us out of work and dependent on the government. Apparently, there is nothing that Congress can find to cut from a $1.6 trillion deficit. If this jerk thinks that 2010 was a watershed election, he hasn't seen pissed off. This goes for jerks like McCain, Snowe, Collins, et al, in the Republican Party as well. There is not a single argument that can be made that will convince me that there are not HUGE cuts that can be made in the federal budget without raising taxes. And notice, these gutless wonders rarely even use the words "raise taxes" anymore. They are now called "revenue enhancements". They don't have cojones to say it because they know that the voters will go ballistic. Cover it up with some benign sounding term. One which doesn't cause ones ears to perk up and start paying attention.
Reid is talking about new taxes, but this is only the beginning. Wait until 2013, when Obama's Health Care really kicks in, and all of the taxes that are going to be triggered by that monstrosity.
If these jerks are not kicked out in 2012, Democrats and liberal Republicans alike, and replaced by fiscal conservatives, who are constitutionally sound in to their core, we are screwed.
