Hillary takes Benghazi bullet for Obama
While it's apparent that Hillary Clinton is attempting to douse the media inferno surrounding the terrorist attack in Libya, and the death of four Americans, Hillary is not only doing damage control for the Regime - she is going back to the Clinton-era tactic of acknowledging a problem, and "taking responsibility" so she can convince the media that it is time to put this unfortunate 'lapse in judgement' behind us. After all, the Obama Administration has an election to win, and they can't have people distracted by this purely political GOP sideshow. It's time for the media to get off of this, and get back to the real business of praising Obama's brilliance, and trashing Mitt Romney.
Of course, this comes just prior to tonight's townhall debate. This will allow "moderator" Candy Crowley the leeway to give Obama cover on the Libya debacle:
"I mean, why should we dwell on this now? It's very confusing to the American people (those dopes), and besides, as Hillary said, it's the "fog of war", and things get a bit difficult to understand in the initial hours, days, weeks and months after a tragedy like this. It's really too painful and too early for this discussion in this type of setting. Besides, it's a non-issue! Hillary has taken responsibility (with no repercussions), the FBI is doing their investigation, and we really don't need to speculate until after all the facts come in from the investigation, which will be after the election. Now, let's go to our next question from the audience. To Governor Romney: We have undecided voter Pat, who wants the candidates to assure the American people that the government will take care of the bottom 47%, and that the richest and most fortunate among us are not going to get off without paying their fair share."
Hillary is not so generous to just fall on the sword for Obama, though. She is, after all, a Clinton. No, this is about her just as much as it is about Barack Obama. She is still eyeing 2016 as her final chance to get back into the White House. She is trying to put this behind her, while signaling the American people that she is showing loyalty to her President, and that she has the strength and moral courage to admit she made a mistake, and take responsibility. It's all BS and a dog-and-pony-show, though. If she and this administration were really honest, they would have been upfront from the get-go. Instead, it was an "Aw sh*t" moment for them, and their initial reaction was to lie to the American people. There is no sincerity in this. Hillary and Obama are on their heels because, to their shock, the American people and the media didn't just buy into their lie about a stupid movie and a non-existent demonstration gone bad.
Hillary is doing what she need to do to try to stay viable as a future candidate, and Barack Obama is once-again absolved of taking any responsibility for anything negative that happen in his Presidency.
It doesn't absolve either of them though. This was the three AM phone call for both of them, and both failed to answer it.
Clinton: I'm responsible for diplomats' security
From Elise Labott, CNN updated 10:44 AM EDT, Tue October 16, 2012
Lima, Peru (CNN) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday tried to douse a political firestorm over the deadly assault on a U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya, saying she's responsible for the security of American diplomatic outposts.
"I take responsibility," Clinton told CNN in an interview while on a visit to Peru. "I'm in charge of the State Department's 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts. The president and the vice president wouldn't be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals. They're the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs and make a considered decision."
