CA Bill Would Effectively Outlaw Pistol Ammunition

The endgame goal?

Wacko environmentalists are pushing for a ban on lead ammunition, the consequence of which would leave to pistol owners unable to purchase ammunition for their weapons. As steel core ammunition is defined in the penal code as "armor piercing", the outlawing of lead effectively outlaws all ammunition used by pistols.
Furthermore, the use of steel core ammunition in California is severely limited due to fire hazards created when the bullets strike a rock. Many outdoor ranges limit when steel core can be used , especially during California's notorious "fire season". In addition, shooting steel core on federal forestry land is prohibited entirely, and as many ranges are on land leased from the federal government, they don't allow the firing of this type of ammunition at any time so as not to have their lease pulled.

California Penal Code Section 12320 states:
Any person, firm, or corporation who, within this state knowingly possesses any handgun ammunition designed primarily to penetrate metal or armor is guilty of a public offense and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison, or in the county jail for a term not to exceed one year, or by a fine not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000), or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Cal. Penal Code section 12323 Defines "Armor Piercing" as follows:
ABSTRACT: 'Handgun ammunition' means ammunition principally for use in pistols and revolvers as they are defined in Section 12001 of the Penal Code. Handgun ammunition designed primarily to penetrate metal or amor is defined in the same manner as it is defined in federal law. Penal Code Title 2: Control of Deadly Weapons Chapter 2.6: Ammunition Definitions Section 12323 As used in this chapter, the following definitions shall apply: (a) 'Handgun ammunition' means ammunition principally for use in pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person, as defined in subdivision (a) of Section 12001, notwithstanding that the ammunition may also be used in some rifles. (b) 'Handgun ammunition designed primarily to penetrate metal or armor' means any ammunition, except a shotgun shell or ammunition primarily designed for use in rifles, that is designed primarily to penetrate a body vest or body shield, and has either of the following characteristics: (1) Has projectile or projectile core constructed entirely, excluding the presence of traces of other substances, from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium, or any equivalent material of similar density or hardness. (2) Is primarily manufactured or designed, by virtue of its shape, cross-sectional density, or any coating applied thereto, including, but not limited to, ammunition commonly known as 'KTW ammunition,' to breach or penetrate a body vest or body shield when fired from a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person. (c) 'Body vest or shield' means any bullet-resistant material intended to provide ballistic and trauma protection for the wearer or holder. (d) 'Rifle' shall have the same meaning as defined in paragraph (20) of subdivision (c) of Section 12020.

This bill to ban lead ammunition is another end-run by the leftists on the People's Second Amendment Right to keep and bear arms. Their claim that it is to "protect wildlife", smacks of the same flawed logic, based on flawed studies (link), that has caused the electronic industry to switch from lead-based solder to silver solder in the manufacture of electronic components, which increase costs while decreasing reliability. In addition, the metals now used in electronic solder applications come with a host of problems, from phenomenom called "tin-whiskers", "tombstoned components, and cracked solder joints. In addition, the tin and silver-based solders are worse for the environment than the highly reliable lead solder, which has been used for decades.

"RoHS" directives mandated by the EU were based on a scientific study by Professor Timothy Townshend, which showed lead from electronic components was leaching into landfills. The European Union hastily put together a worldwide mandate to eliminate lead from commercial electronic components. They went forward with this directive, despite subsequent studies, including those by Professor Townshend himself, which all contradicted the results of the initial study, and showed no discernible leaching of lead into the landfills by electronic components. But by this time, the EU and other countries has realized the huge financial windfall to be gained through the enactment of the ROHS mandates. In the end, politics and money overrode sound science.

Environmentalists are pushing legislation to ban lead ammunition in California to prevent toxins from poisoning scavengers that eat animal remains left by hunters.

Final language of the bill was introduced Monday by Assembly Member Anthony Rendon, D-Lakewood, who said the legislation would remove a lingering source of pollution from the environment. It was sponsored by three major environmental groups — Defenders of Wildlife, Audubon California, and the Humane Society of the United States.

"There really is no question that lead ammo is a threat," said Kim Delfino of Defenders of Wildlife. "To pass a bill in California would set the stage for this happening throughout the country, the way low-emissions vehicle standards changed the market nationwide."

Senator Feinstein unveils her assault on the 2nd Amendment!

Today, Diane Feinstein introduced a Bill that would Ban the Sale, Manufacture, Importation or Transfer of more than 157 different firearms, many of which are used for legitimate sporting purposes and competitive events....but make politicians exempt from it!

"Mrs. Feinstein's measure would exempt more than 2,200 types of hunting and sporting rifles; guns manually operated by bolt, pump, lever or slide action; and weapons used by government officials (read: politicans), law enforcement and retired law enforcement personnel." These people have some nerve...Disarm the honest citizens and keep themselves safe. When will American wake up and say ENOUGH is ENOUGH?!?!

Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to begin his propaganda tour across the United States to sell the American people the poison fruit.

Here is a brief summary what this ban would require:

Ban any magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rounds
Require that any rifle or magazine owned by law abiding citizens be engraved with the date of manufacture. (impossible to ascertain in many cases)
Ban various types of firearm accessories.
Ban sporting semi-automatic shotguns that contains any of the following characteristics: Folding or telescoping stock, pistol grip, fixed magazine of more than 5 round capacity or a forward mounted grip.
Ban any Rifle or Handgun with a fixed magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds.
Requires an undefined, so called "Safe Storage" requirement for gun owners.

The Bill would ensure that no rifle, handgun or shotgun contained within can be handed down to the next generation of your family, effectively ensuring that future generations do not have the ability to adequately defend themselves or their families during their times of greatest need.

The Second Amendment was not designed to protect "Duck Hunters," as Sen Feinstein suggested in her presentation on Capitol Hill. I for one don't need politicians, judges or attorneys to tell me what the 2nd Amendment means. The best way to understand the Second Amendment is to know what the FOUNDING FATHERS SAID and here are some DIRECT QUOTES:

Nanny State Alert: Latest Danger In Schools? - 'Flamin' Hot Cheetos'

How does freedom end?

When Is A Cheeto Not Just A Cheeto?
This is the kind of crap our precious public schools are concerned with? Friggin' Cheetos?! The so-called reason is that they are not nutritious enough, and have too much salt. I'm calling bull crap. This is step one. I can assure you that there are other foods out there with more salt and are less nutritious which are yet to come under fire. Of course the media are out there reporting the propaganda, dutifully nodding in agreement. "Yes, we probably do get too much salt in our diets. It's comforting to know that there are people out there looking out for our children". It would be refreshing, shocking actually, to hear one anchor say, "Why are the schools getting involved in this? Shouldn't this be the responsibility of the child's parents"? But we won't hear that.
This is one more example of some power-hungry bureaucrats wresting more power, more responsibility away from parents and the general public. Of course, they are "doing it for the children". Well, that's crap, too! If they had any concern for the children, they would be more motivated with giving children a quality education in the basic knowledge skills that the kids are going to need to be successful, and less concerned about what they eat, whether Heather has two mommy's or six daddy's, or whether Johnny knows how to properly put a condom on a banana! For you teachers who are getting more offended by the second, I am not addressing those of you who are ham-strung by the teacher's unions and education extablishment, (unless you are a left-wing libtard who buys into and blindly supports all of this crap, with zero cognitive ability to think for yourself). I am talking about the educational glitterati in the DOE, the Teachers Unions, and the so-called liberal elitists in politics, who see kids as lab rats, and our schools as their science rooms and indoctrination centers in which to perform their liberal social experiments.
Test scores dropping, graduation rates plummeting, and our bastions of social experimentation are more concerned with kids eating "Flamin' Hot Cheetos', undermining parental rights' with free birth control medication and condoms for students, banning American Flag shirts on Cinco De Mayo Day which might offend the Latino's, and removing banners from school auditoriums because it has the word "God" or "Lord" in it and might offend some atheists.
I don't know about any of the rest of you, but I have put up with about as much as I can take with all of this government intrusion into virtually every aspect of our lives. Whether parenting, business, eating, how large our soda's are, how much salt we can have, the type of light bulbs we can buy, how much water our toilets use, ad infinitum, there is government. You literally can't take a crap without the government being involved.
For anyone who is still undecided about this election, or who says that there is no difference between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, you may be a lost cause. On the one hand is candidate Obama who is rooted in the ideology of Marxism and is quickly moving down the path of European Socialism, or worse. He supports this kind of crap! His wife advocates for it, with her portion-controlled so-called "Healthy Lunches" programs, which half of the students hate, and end up throwing in the trash. On the other hand we have Mitt Romney who, though not my ideal candidate, I am 100% behind in this election, because the alternative is the end of the American society as we know it. At least he doesn't advocate for this level of government intrusion. Though some of his ideas still grow government, they slow the growth to a pace where we can still turn the Great Ship around. But, we have to elect conservative men and women to both Houses of Congress and the Presidency, not just in this election, but the next TEN! It took decades to get to this point, and it's going to take a huge turnover of our leaders to get out of this mess.
Voting third party in this election is not an option. It may have been in the past, but this election is a turning point. To all of those who want, or are going to vote for Gary Johnson, here's a little insight for you. I'll even whisper it: He can't win. He can only cause Romney to lose.
If Romney loses by a few votes in a few states because enough votes are siphoned off to Johnson, then welcome to the USSA. Think it can't happen? Bush won in Florida by 537 votes. (I don't want to hear how the "Supreme Court stole the election and gave it to Bush" crap either. All recounts, even by the NY Times, said Bush would have won. And don't forget that Ralph Nader peeled off 97K votes, most of which, likely, would have gone to Gore. Blame Nader.) How about Al 'Stuart Smalley' Franken's election in Minnesota, which was determined by only 312 votes? Still think every vote doesn't matter?
But no worries. If something were to happen where Romney ends up losing a few key states, and it's because people decided to cast their vote for Gary Johnson, or in protest, just don't vote at all, and we all wake up to find that Obama has won with 271 electoral votes: be assured that you can rest easy, knowing that you remained true to your "principles" , as you find yourself watching Obama dismantle what remains of this once great country.
Am I really this fired up about Cheeto's? Not if this were an isolated incident. It is the compounding of all of these little things, the creeping incrementalism of government seizing more and more of our freedoms by liberal and statists in our schools and government, all with the certainty that "We, The People" will continue to accept it. Well, I'm done with accepting the crap-sandwiches that they keep trying to shove down our throats!
If you're willing to continue accepting these types of assaults on your individual liberty, or just want to "get along", then you are part of the problem.
If you're willing to start fighting back, starts now with friends, family, co-workers, and others to ensure that as many conservatives as possible get to the polls on November 6th and send Obama packing on January 20th.!
