Even Obama's own GAO warns that current spending is "unsustainable."

Posted by Tom

Obama and his administration is full of hypocrisy.  Anyone with the most basic understanding of economics knows that our Country moves closer to insolvency each and every day.  He's already increased taxes on everyone across the board, in spite of campaign pledges to the contrary, but has yet to take any steps to cut spending!

Here's what he said about this very same problem back in 2006.....

(It seems he's fond of using children to sell his bill of goods... )

Now, even the Presidents own Government Account Office, a fact that seems to have gone almost unreported in the mainstream media, warns that we're on an unsustainable fiscal path.  I'm not surprised given the fact that on average, everyday we're adding $3,699,744,466.56 dollars to the National Debt.  This translated to an annual increase of $1,354,106,474,762.13 in new debt last year.  Current estimates for 2013 are at best the same, if not worse.  This means that every TAXPAYER in America is currently $145,877 dollars in debt!

GAO report number GAO-13-271R entitled 'Financial Audit: U.S. Government's Fiscal
Years 2012 and 2011 Consolidated Financial Statements' which was released on
January 17, 2013.
"Increased attention to risks that could affect the federal government’
s financial condition is made more important because of the nation’s
longer-term fiscal challenges. The comprehensive long-term fiscal
projections presented in the unaudited Required Supplementary
Information section of the 2012 Financial Report show that—absent
policy changes—the federal government continues to face an
unsustainable fiscal path. The oldest members of the baby-boom
generation are already eligible for Social Security retirement
benefits and for Medicare benefits. Under these projections, spending
for the major health and retirement programs will increase in coming
decades as more members of the baby-boom generation become eligible
for benefits and the health care cost for each enrollee increases.
Over the long term, the structural imbalance between spending and
revenue will lead to continued growth of debt held by the public as a
share of gross domestic product (GDP); this means the current
structure of the federal budget is unsustainable.

These projections, with regard to Social Security and Medicare, are
based on the same assumptions underlying the information presented in
the Statement of Social Insurance and assume that the provisions in
law designed to slow the growth of Medicare costs are sustained and
remain effective throughout the projection period. If, however, the
cost containment measures are not sustained over the long term—a
concern expressed by the Trustees of the Medicare trust funds, the
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Chief Actuary, the
Congressional Budget Office, and others—spending on federal health
care programs will grow much more rapidly. GAO also prepares long-term
federal fiscal simulations which continue to show debt rising as a
share of GDP.

If Obama's inauguration speech is any indication of his future
intentions, it doesn't look like he's willing to do what's right for
America. Our National Debt is the single largest threat to our National Security.
I solemnly Swear to make lame attempts, cutting down this tree with a utility Knife...

Debt, Unemployment, Disability: Obama's 1st Term Legacy

Posted by Brian

Obama's first term has come to an end with a thud. On the economy and jobs, one would have to, as Hillary Clinton might say, suspend disbelief to argue that Obama's economic policies have worked.
Here are several stories from CNSNews which chronicle the complete failure of those policies:

First Term: Obama Increased Debt $50,521 Per Household; More Than First 42 Presidents in 53 Terms Combined
(CNSNews.com) - During Barack Obama’s first term as president of the United States, the debt of the federal government increased by $5.8 trillion, which exceeds the combined debt accumulated under all presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton (my emphasis). Continue Reading

First Term: Americans ‘Not in Labor Force’ Increased 8,332,000
(CNSNews.com) - The number of Americans age 16 or older who decided not to work or even to seek a job increased by 8,332,000 to a record 88,839,000 in President Barack Obama’s first term, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.    At the same time, the number of retired workers collecting Social Security increased by only 4,234,480. Continue Reading

First Term: Americans Collecting Disability Increased 1,385,418—Now 1 for Each 13 Full-Time Workers
(CNSNews.com) - During President Barack Obama’s first term, the number of Americans collecting federal disability insurance increased by 1,385,418 to a record 8,827,795. As a result, there is now one person collecting disability in this county for every 13 people working full-time. Forty-two years ago, in December 1968, there were 51 people working full-time in this country for each person collecting disability. Continue Reading

After all the pomp and circumstance of tomorrow's swearing-in ceremony and the multi-million-dollar galas, President Obama and Congress have one hell of a job ahead of them.  Economists are expecting "sub par growth" for 2013, with the $17T debt being the chief drag on the economy. Businesses are hesitant to expend capital due to the uncertainty in the economy, which will also create uncertainty in the markets.  Both indicate slow growth, to near stagnation.   One of the biggest fears for business is changing regulations from the government and the EPA.  While Obama and the Democrats blame "Big Business"  for hoarding profits, it is the actions and words of Barack Obama himself which is creating the fear.
On both the debt and the regulations, Barack Obama gives no indication of changing course on either one.  He has been unwilling up to this point to even consider a reduction in spending which would lower the deficits below $1T.  His entire budget is based on tax increases for the "rich", which nearly every economist agrees will not provide any significant increase in revenue to the Federal government, and which over the long-term would yield less revenue.  Any reduction in spending has been met with stubborn resistance, or a plan to delay spending cuts until some unforeseen period in the future.
This inability to deal in any meaningful way with the debt is combined with the uncertainty of what new regulations and meddling the Feds have in store in the future.  The EPA is like a virus, constantly mutating what standards that business must meet. They have unilaterally mandated more and more stringent air quality standards on the power industry, which costs the companies millions of dollars in upgrades to to individual plants.  For those who don't meet the unrealistic time line imposed for some of these changes, the companies are assessed multimillion dollar fines and penalties, and ordered to prop up "green energy" companies more millions.
Then there is the NLRB,  which has been wracked by allegations and resignations of corruption within its ranks. Of course, there is the case of the NLRB suing Boeing after the company announced it was moving the production of its Max 737 to South Carolina (a right-to-work state) from its Washington facility (a union shop). It was a clear case of union retaliation, which the Obama NLRB went along with. The case was later dropped, but not before it had a chilling effect not only Boeing, but across the business community.

If Obama stubbornly refuses to change course on his economic policies we will continue to see the kind of pathetic economic numbers produced in his first term. Worse, if and when the Fed is finally forced to increase the interest rate, well, you ain't seen bad yet.

He's #1! Obama Has Borrowed More Than Washington To "W"

Posted by Brian

President Obama continues to set records during his Presidency. Already the first President to oversee the nation's credit be downgraded from AAA status, Obama is now the proud owner of borrowing more money than all Presidents' from George Washington through the first 5 months of the George W. Bush presidency.
In spite of this, we have true idiots like Nancy Pelosi calling for Obama to be able to unilaterally increase the debt ceiling!
Congratulations President Asshat!

Obama’s Now Borrowed More Than All Presidents from Washington to W
By Terence P. Jeffrey November 30, 2012

(CNSNews.com) - The federal government has now borrowed more money during Barack Obama’s time as president than it did in the period lasting from the time President George Washington took the oath office until July 2, 2001, more than five months into the first term of President George W. Bush.

Barack's New Legacy: 1st American Prez With $5 Trillion Debt Increase

Posted by Brian

Let's hear it for the Bamster! $5T in under one term!!

Wonder how much of that debt is filed under Family vacations, Michelle Obama's vacations,  Sasha & Michelle's Costa Del Sol Vacation, Malia's Mexican Vacation, misc. travel expenses, greens fees, and Friday Night parties at the White House, Broadway Night Out...?
President Obama, when are you going to cut spending?

The $5 Trillion Man: Debt Has Increased Under Obama by $5,027,761,476,484.56

By Terence P. Jeffrey April 18, 2012

(CNSNews.com)- In the 39 months since Barack Obama took the oath of office as president of the United States, the federal government’s debt has increased by $5,027,761,476,484.56.
Although he has served less than a term, Obama is now the first American president to see the federal government's debt increase by more than $5 trillion during his time in office.
During the full eight years that George W. Bush served as president, the federal government's debt increased by $4,899,100,310,608.44. (Rising from $5,727,776,738,304.64 to $10,626,877,048,913.08.)

Obama: "We didn't understand how bad it was going to get"

Obamination!
"Uh, I didn't know! It's that guy, Bush's fault!"
"Well we're not there because this recession turned out to be a lot deeper than any of us realized," Obama says of his inability to have a policy to cut the deficit in half

"Everybody who is out there back in 2009, if you look back what their estimates were in terms of how many jobs had been lost, how bad the economy had contracted when I took office, everybody underestimated it. People thought that the economy contracted 3%. It turns it retracted close to 9%. We lost 8 million jobs just in a year's span, about half a year before I took office and half a year after I took office. So, the die had been cast, but a lot of us didn't understand at that point how bad it was going to get. That increases the deficit because less tax revenues come in, and it means that more people are getting unemployment insurance, we're helping states more so they don't lay off teachers, etc."

His most laughable, or infuriating line is this: "The key though is we're setting ourselves on a path where we can get our debt under control." Really? Really?? Four year of TRILLION dollar-plus deficits, with the coming year projected to be even higher than last year. The lowest, LOWEST deficit under this President has been $1.2 trillion. This is nearly triple George W. Bush's highest deficit, for which King Barry called him "unpatriotic". Obama's policies have increased the overall debt in three years for which it took Bush eight years.

I would say that if $450B is unpatriotic, then four years of $1.2T-plus is downright treasonous.

Balanced Budget Amendment Fails - Four Republicans Join Dems on Vote

Posted by Brian
Even as it was announced this week that the nation's debt has reached $15 Trillion, Congress still cannot find it within themselves to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment. The addition of 4 Republicans who voted with the Democrats against the amendment show that we still have a ways to go to get a Congress which represents "We The People".  Nearly three-in-four Americans support a Balanced Budget Amendment.
The four Republicans who voted against the Amendment were:

Justin Amash (R-MI)
David Dreier (R-CA)
Ryan (WI)
Gohmert (R-TX)

David Dreier of California had one of the more nonsensical reasons for his Nay vote - because Congress had balanced the budget back in 1997, that shows that no Amendment is needed.  No, Congressman, a balanced budget is needed because very seldom will you have enough Congressmen with the fortitude to do the tough work, and take the arrows coming their way, to get to a balanced budget.  This has been only too apparent in recent years, as Congress has gone on a spending spree unrivaled at any time in history - and with the American people screaming bloody murder for the insanity to stop.
Although I am somewhat perplexed by Paul Ryan's vote, at least his reasoning was more sound than that of Dreier:

There are far too many big government liberal Republicans who vote with the Democrats, which is a Democrat party which spends like money like crack addicts.  Until we replace these big government GOP's and a whole lot of the leftist Dems in Congress with Constitutionally-sound conservatives, the country will continue to slip further into the abyss.

House defeats balanced budget amendment

The House on Friday rejected a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, falling well short of the two-thirds vote required and signaling a striking slide since the amendment’s high point in the 1990s.

Senator Rand Paul exclusively has JUST told Sean that not only are Democrats rejecting offers put on the table, but now they won't even continue to negotiate and have "walked away from the table...refusing to talk to the Republicans."
