White House, Energy Secretary: High Gas Prices Not A Concern

Posted by Brian
Stephen Chu, the Obama Energy Secretary dropped a bombshell on the American people by saying the the goal of the Obama Administration is not to lower gas prices, but to "decrease dependence on foreign oil, and strengthen our economy".
This is the same moron who became famous for declaring that, to fight climate change, we should all "paint our roofs white". In 2008 he told Chris Wallace that he would like to see U.S. gas prices rise to the levels of Europe, which were over $10 a gallon.
Keep in mind also that it was Obama who in 2008, while criticizing then-President George Bush for high prices at the pump, contradicted his own criticism by saying that he wasn't really concerned about the high prices, but only that they had risen too fast, and that he preferred a more gradual rise, presumably to acclimate the American people to getting screwed by a radical environmentalist energy policy.  This fits perfectly with Chu's statement that he wants to "take the pain out of high gas prices". Sort of the old story of putting a frog in a pot of cold water and slowly bringing the temperature to a boil so that he doesn't realize that he's dying until it's too late.
Four more years of this bunch will most certainly bring about the death of the United States as we have always known it.

Morning Bell: White House Wants to Keep Gas Prices High
Mike BrownfieldFebruary 29, 2012 at 8:40 am

With the national average of gas prices hitting $3.65 a gallon, nearing $6 in some parts of the country, and poised to head even higher, America’s families are wondering when the bleeding at the pump will stop. But for Secretary of Energy Stephen Chu, those steep prices aren’t even a concern. In fact, he says his goal is not to get the price of gasoline to go down.
Chu delivered those stunning remarks in testimony before Congress yesterday. When Rep. Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) asked Chu whether it’s his “overall goal to get our price” of gasoline lower, Chu said, “No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy.”
As shocking as his remarks are, they shouldn’t come as a surprise. Chu has a long record of advocating for higher gas prices. In 2008, he stated, “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” Last March, he reiterated his point in an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, noting that his focus is to ease the pain felt by his energy policies by forcing automakers to make more fuel-efficient automobiles. “What I’m doing since I became Secretary of Energy has been quite clear. What I have been doing is developing methods to take the pain out of high gas prices.”

WH Senior Adviser: Unemployment Stimulates the Economy

Speaking in Durham North Carolina, and with unemployment rising to 9%, Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett is the latest statist to attempt to dumb-down the American public on economics. Like Nancy Pelosi before her, Jarrett makes the inane claim that unemployment checks are good for the economy. This follows her comment that  "we had" a bad economy. Had? This is the arrogance of the leftist. That she can sit there straight-faced, and imply that the economy is thriving, ignoring the suffering of people around the country, tells you how this bunch views the American public. Because they say it, we dolts are supposed to just ignore the economic ruin taking place in the country.
Look around you. Since 2009, gasoline (which affects the cost of everything) is up over 80%, beef is up 24%, bacon 22%. Inflation adjusted household incomes are going down. Your dollar today doesn't go as far as it did in in 2009.  Worse, it is the staples such as wheat and corn products, and all of the products that are dependent on those products, that are being affected.
And Valerie Jarrett wants the public to believe that high unemployment is a good thing? Amazing.

Flashback: Nancy Pelosi says Unemployment creates jobs and is one of the best economic stimulus.

World Food Shortage? Food Commodities and Oil Prices Soar

Posted by Brian
The economy continues its slump and people are out of work, but the price of goods and services continue to rise.  Oil at nearly $100 a barrel and food prices beginning to soar. Even though a recent report stated that ethanol is a bust, producers are going to increase their use of corn for its production. The combination of higher food commodity prices, coupled with higher oil prices, will significantly affect the price of food at the supermarket.  How about the government get the hell out of the way, issue some drilling permits, get some refineries built, stop growing crops for fuel and go back to growing crops for food?

Prices Soar on Crop Woes

U.S. Cuts Global Grain Supply Outlook; Higher Prices Expected at Grocery Stores
By SCOTT KILMAN And LIAM PLEVEN

Evidence of tightening global food supplies grew as the U.S. Agriculture Department cut its estimates for global harvests of key crops and raised some demand forecasts, adding to worries about rising food prices.

Prices of corn and soybeans leapt 4% Wednesday and wheat gained 1%, continuing the broad rally in commodity prices that began in June. With yesterday's gains, prices of corn futures contracts are now up 94% from their June lows; soybeans are up 51% and wheat is up 80%.

The USDA's revisions reflect the impact of dry weather in South America and floods in Australia, which have compounded supply constraints that first started to emerge in the middle of last year, when a drought in Russia ravaged that country's wheat fields. The agency also cut estimates for U.S. harvests of corn and soybeans.

At the same time, demand is increasing. The USDA said ethanol producers likely will increase their use of corn, and consumption by emerging market countries continues to be strong. READ MORE HERE--->
