Christopher Monckton, who worked in the Number 10 Policy Unit in the 1980'2 under Margaret Thatcher, reports on some of the more outrageous, and even terrifying things coming out of the UN Climate Summit in Durban, South Africa. You know, the stuff we are hearing nothing about from the media. Keep in mind that these people are supposed to be some of the smartest people that we have to offer, and maybe they are if the litmus test is that they come up with a way to totally destroy the West through 11th century solutions, designed to confiscate wealth and put us back to pre-horse and buggy days. Some of the more outrageous plans to combat so-called "man-made" climate change:
- Giving "rights" to "Mother Earth"
- Cease wars (no explanation, just stop)
- Reduce CO2 emissions 50% in eight years, and "over 100%" by 2050.
All of the costs associated with UN mandates would be paid solely by the West, as we are in their view, "solely" responsible for climate change. Third world countries would be exempt from paying a dime, as apparently they contribute no CO2 or other greenhouse gas emissions to the world. Not that this whole summit has anything to do with climate change anyway. The UN and their agencies, especially their council on climate change, are nothing but the latest refuge for displaced Marxists who are using this climate hoax as a means to redistribute wealth, and to further their overall goals of a One-World government, setting up "World Courts", world monetary systems, draconian regulations (which are impossible to meet), and outrageous fines to those who don't meet these regulations.
The UN has become nothing but an outlet for some of the world's worst dictators and despots to spew propaganda, and to confiscate money from the West. Remember, this was an organization that had countries like Libya and Iran lecturing the United States on human rights abuses, all while the Obama Administration sat and took it with virtually no fight back.
The UN is certainly no friend to the U.S., or to any other freedom loving country. It is time that the U.S., Great Britain, and our other Western allies all pull out of the UN, which would include not allowing these jerks to set up house in New York.
Special to Climate Depot - Lord Christopher Monckton reports from UN Climate Summit
Durban: what the media are not telling you
By Christopher Monckton of Brenchley in Durban, South Africa
DURBAN, South Africa -- “No high hopes for Durban.” “Binding treaty unlikely.” “No deal this year.” Thus ran the headlines. The profiteering UN bureaucrats here think otherwise. Their plans to establish a world government paid for by the West on the pretext of dealing with the non-problem of “global warming” are now well in hand. As usual, the mainstream media have simply not reported what is in the draft text which the 194 states parties to the UN framework convention on climate change are being asked to approve.
Behind the scenes, throughout the year since Cancun, the now-permanent bureaucrats who have made highly-profitable careers out of what they lovingly call “the process” have been beavering away at what is now a 138-page document. Its catchy title is "Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-Term Cooperative Action Under the Convention -- Update of the amalgamation of draft texts in preparation of [one imagines they mean 'for'] a comprehensive and balanced outcome to be presented to the Conference of the Parties for adoption at its seventeenth session: note by the Chair.” In plain English, these are the conclusions the bureaucracy wants.
The contents of this document, turgidly drafted with all the UN's skill at what the former head of its documentation center used to call “transparent impenetrability”, are not just off the wall – they are lunatic.
