"Income Inequality " - Milton Friedman vs. Barack Obama

Barack Obama and the Democrats have said that they are going to make "income inequality" one of their primary planks for 2014, emphasizing "the haves vs. the have-nots".  We are already seeing and hearing speeches by the President addressing this, NY Mayor Bill De Blasio speaking of a progressive wave sweeping over the country, and leftist in Washington state (SeaTac) foolishly raising the minimum wage to $15/hr.  The left is on the march again pitting rich vs. poor, the 99% vs. the 1%,  the Proletariat vs. Bourgeoisie.

It is with this in mind that the now-famous appearance of Milton Friedman on the 1970's Phil Donahue Show popped into my mind. It shows that, contrary to what many people want us to believe, Barack Obama is not some brilliant economic visionary.  His arguments are the same ones that have been made between the left and the right for decades, and they are the same ones that Phil Donahue makes in this video. Today's left is just regurgitating the same old arguments they have always made. They're just counting on a new generation that is ignorant of that fact. Thus, these video to show that the new is the same as the old.

The first video is a short segment in which Friedman addresses "greed", completely obliterating Donahue's argument against capitalism.

The second video is the entire show, and is equally entertaining and educational. Well worth the time to set aside the 45 minutes to watch and to acquaint (or reacquaint) yourself with this great thinker, especially the under 30 crowd who may not have heard of this great man. God knows, our current educational system doesn't teach this stuff anymore.

Menendez Compares Republicans To Terrorists

The Republicans need to take control of this whole "tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans" debate.  There are NO TAX CUTS!  The Republicans are asking that all tax rates remain the same.  The Democrats are trying to RAISE taxes on those who make $250,000 a year or more -every man, woman, married couple, and small Mom and Pop business.  These are the job providers.  Ask yourself: Why in hell do the Democrats want to raise taxes on those who have the actual means to provide jobs?

Dem Senator: Negotiating with Republicans "Almost" like Negotiating with "Terrorists"

ABC News' Jonathan Karl reports: Did Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) just compare Republicans to terrorists?

Well, not really. But he did compare negotiating with Republicans to negotiating with terrorists.

At a press conference with fellow Democrats, Menendez lashed out at Republicans for opposing Democratic efforts to extend the Bush tax cuts for the middle class while allowing the tax cuts for the wealthy to expire.

He accused the Republicans of holding middle class tax cuts “hostage” to tax cuts for the wealthy. That’s a common Democratic line, but Menendez took the analogy a step further.

Americans aren’t stupid

Most Americans see through Democrats' class-warfare rhetoric and know that extending the Bush tax cuts for everybody makes sense.
by Herman Cain

Here we go with the liberal rhetoric again. You’ve seen the Democrats whine that keeping the “Bush tax cuts” would stuff the pockets of the richest Americans, while doing nothing to help the middle class. But that simply isn’t the truth.

Here’s the truth: Congress is not voting on tax cuts, but rather, whether or not they should allow tax increases to take effect January 1, 2011.

The Democrats have tried to convince the American people that the Republicans want to pass “tax cuts for the rich.” But, in reality, conservatives want to provide a bit of economic certainty by maintaining the current tax rates for all. In fact, Speaker-elect John Boehner (R-Ohio) says that keeping these tax rates is the most sensible way to “reduce the uncertainty in America and help small businesses begin to create jobs again.”

This may come as a shocker to liberals: He’s exactly right.

Milton Friedman on Donahue 1979 (1/5)

Friedman, shows why he is unsurpassed in modern times in defending liberty. He cheerfully decapitates the ideas of a government-controlled economy, over a wide range of examples. His layman's explanation as to how government intervention and the Federal Reserve control of the money supply helped cause the Great Depression is simply outstanding.
