If 2% of a population accounts for 61% of all related new AID's cases, how can this not be mentioned in a speech about fighting the disease. Once again, political correctness trumps common sense. This is not to stigmatize those who contract the disease. But if you don't even acknowledge where the vast majority of new cases originate, how do you educate people, especially those in the highest risk group, how to minimize their chances of contracting it? This is just plain irresponsible.
(CNSNews.com) – In what was billed as a “major address” on Tuesday at the National Institutes of Health, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the goal of fighting AIDS/HIV around the globe was “creating an AIDS-Free Generation.”
But her 4,000-word speech did not reference what the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) saysaccounts for 61 percent of the approximately 50,000 new HIV infections in the United States each year: male-to-male sexual contact.
