Critics Call 4th Of July Obama Parody Float Racist

A parade float in Huntsville, Utah, which depicted President Obama, and had statements regarding Eric Holder and the "Fast and Furious" scandal, has people shouting "racist".

While some may say this was not the proper 'venue', or that it was in poor taste, this is not the first float entry that has been entered into this parade in which a political or public figure has been mocked.  Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush have had parody floats in this parade, as have Michael Jackson and others.  What is different about this one is the stir it has created.

Apparently, any criticism of Barack Obama is automatically deemed racist. SNL has pulled skits which make fun of Obama, and have also been accused of racism for another skit. Oppose Obama's economic policy? Racist.  Oppose his immigration policy? Racist. The racism charge is so pervasive about any opposition or even perceived slight towards Obama, that Reason magazine published an article with an entire timeline featuring liberal claims of the racism towards Obama.

The knee-jerk claims of racism are not simply annoying and overused (which they are), the deeper thing about this whole phenomenon is that it is a concerted effort to ostracize those who criticize Obama, and to warn those who are thinking of criticizing him.  It is to chill free speech, not through government mandate, but through making people afraid to speak their minds, for fear of being ridiculed, or dressed down.

Barack Obama's supporters, and his sycophants in the media, have created, and are continuing to foster, a "cult of personality" around Obama.  Substance doesn't matter.  It's his aura and "star-power" that we must admire. That we must blindly love and follow.  Criticism will not be tolerated.

Lenin, Pol Pot, and Hitler all had those qualities too.

HUNTSVILLE, Utah — A parade entry portraying President Barack Obama and using the term “Obamanation” has made some angry, and others upset at the negative attention.

It happened in the city’s annual Fourth of July parade.

The float showed a person dressed as President Obama with one sign that read “Huntsville Welcomes Obama’s Farewell Tour?” On the back, another sign said, “Ask about our assault gun plan. Call Eric Holder.”
