H/T to The Blaze
Although many of us chuckle when we see this kind of stuff, the truth is that this is truly sad. People have been conditioned to believe that the job of the federal government is to "take care" of them. In return, these same people are willingly putting themselves into self-imposed slavery. They have given up their sense of self-worth and are now dependent on bureaucrats for their day-to-day necessities. They have been sucked in by a welfare system that promises cradle-to-grave benefits. A system that is designed to keep them in bondage. They have been taught, and have bought into, the lies by leftist politicians, clergy who promote a Marxist "social justice" message, social workers who show them how to game the system, and nearly five decades of an institutional scam called the "Great Society", that has decimated generations in the black community with the promise of free money and "stuff".
Make no mistake, this is not a black's-only issue. Millions have bought into the lie. Whites, blacks, latinos...it doesn't matter. There are more whites (in numbers) on welfare than any other group. But, never is it so stark a contrast than in the black communities because of the sheer percentage of blacks affected. The welfare and entitlement mentality have decimated the family structure and self-worth of those who have been literally born into a mindset of lifelong poverty, with which they feel there is no escape.
The Barack Obama's, Al Sharpton's, Jesse Jackson's, Nancy Pelosi's, and others foster this belief with class warfare rhetoric, and made-up straw-man arguments meant to create fear and uncertainty in their future, and to douse any flicker of hope in their own self-reliance. They are told the deck is stacked against them, and that only Barack Obama and those caring bureaucrats in government will ensure that they are fed, clothed, housed, and taking care of.
Obama and his ilk provide false promises to those whom he claims to care about. He speaks of taking care of the sick, the elderly, causing the seas to lower, blaming the rich for the plight of the poor. Yet, with each "promise" comes a catch: greater taxes, forfeiting more liberty, greater regulation of your day-to-day life. His "promises" take away economic opportunity, and confiscate more money from the poor and the rich alike. Policies that increase fuel prices, both gas and heating oil, hurt the poor infinitely more that those who are more well off. Policies that hurt business result in either higher prices, employee layoffs, or both.

For those who are in the lower income brackets, this can be devastating. For those out of work and on government assistance or fixed incomes, higher prices in energy create higher prices in goods and services. Your options get fewer and fewer. Your liberty has been diminished. You are now a slave to the state.
While many will see this latest "Obama money" fiasco as humorous, or be disdainful of the thousands who showed up for their "free" money, the truth is that this is the final result of a government that has enabled this behavior for decades.
I'm not amused. I'm not angry. I'm just sad.
‘OBAMA MONEY’ RUMOR HAS PEOPLE LINING UP IN NYC… AGAIN
Posted on April 17, 2012 at 9:28am by Mike OpelkaRemember in the fall of 2009 when thousands turned out in Michigan try and get free “Obama money?” Well, it’s happened again — but this time it could be a scam.
Responding to a local rumor, people are standing in line for hours, turning over valuable personal information and expecting to receive a government handout in New York City. If this sounds familiar, it is. Back in the fall of 2009, thousands of people stood in line in Michigan expecting to be given some Obama money. It never arrived.
Glenn Beck reported about it on his Fox News show back then:
