CNN Weather Babe Says Tornado Outbreak Caused By Global Warming

April has historically been one of the worst months for tornado outbreaks around the U.S.  However that doesn't stop CNN's Alexandria Steele and Carol Costello from having the following exchange:

ALEXANDRA STEELE: The same area’s in place for severe weather in terms of maybe some hail and very gusty winds tomorrow. It’s just not progressive.

CAROL COSTELLO: Such a strange spring.

STEELE: It really is. That’s kind of the climate change we are seeing. Extremes are ruling the roost and what we are seeing, more become the norm.

COSTELLO: It makes me afraid for what next spring will bring. It might be unnaturally cold.

STEELE: Because that’s not it–this global warming is really kind of a misnomer. Global climate change—so the colds are colder and warms are warmer, and the severes more severe.

Pure sophistry. This is the type of irresponsible reporting that has public confidence in the media at an all-time low.  No historical perspective.  No facts to back up her claim. Just blind faith and even less intellectual curiosity causes her to regurgitate the false narrative.

From 1959 to 2006, April has seen 5,376 tornadoes touchdown in 44 states, with 1,193 deaths recorded.

Below is a graphic of tornadoes that have touched down in just the first eleven days of April during that time frame.

Not exactly the slow season in the storm chasing business.
