Pelosi Bemoans 'Very Little Government Left' if Budget Cuts Happen

Posted by Brian

Nancy Pelosi
Cheerleader for big government power
Nancy Pelosi is concerned that if Congress makes spending cuts, there will be "very little in terms of the public space" left.

Of course, by "cuts", she means a reduction in the amount of increase in spending, but that is a point for another day.  There are no actual cuts in spending. Yet, this doesn't prevent Herr Pelosi from doing her impression of Chicken Little, clucking that "the debt-limit ceiling is falling!"

To Pelosi, reining in the size and scope of government is a threat to her and the leftists power and control over the people.

Yes.  And that is the point Madame Pelosi.

Pelosi: 'Very Little' Gov't Left If Spending Cuts are Matched with Debt-Limit Increase
March 21, 2013 By Elizabeth Harrington

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said if a debt limit increase is matched with federal spending cuts later this year, there will be “very little” of the “public space” left.

During a Thursday press conference on Capitol Hill, Pelosi was asked about Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) who said any increase in the debt limit when it is met this August should be accompanied with “dollar for dollar” spending cuts.

“Yes, that’s what the Speaker says, and that is certainly in keeping with the anti-government ideologues that are in his caucus,” Pelosi said.  “If you keep cutting investments in the future that way in order to do something that should be pro forma here to pass the debt limit, this shouldn’t even be this kind of a debate.”

“I mean, you can have the debate, but there shouldn’t be any doubt in anybody’s mind as to what the outcome is about the full faith and credit of the United States of America,” she said.

“If you keep saying ‘dollar for dollar,’ you will have very little in terms of the public space,” Pelosi said.

Finally! Obama Submits NCAA Picks! Still No Budget.

Posted by Brian

Obama focused like a laser...on March Madness.

At least we know where President Barack Obama's priorities lie.  ESPN even has a name for it: Barack-etology.  The annual dog and pony show (Video) where Obama tells us his bracket picks for March Madness.

For the fifth year in a row, Obama comes out with his annual NCAA tournament picks, predicting that Indiana will win it all.  In past years he has correctly picked N. Carolina to win (2009), got shut out in 2010 and 2011 Final Four picks, and had two Final Four teams correct in 2012 (Kentucky and Ohio State).

During that same five year stretch, Obama has either failed to submit a budget,  or of the budgets he has submitted, has not managed to garner a single vote for passage.  His 2012 budget was struck down 99-0 in the Senate, and 414-0 in the House.  His 2011 budget was struck down 97-0.

But hey, he's focused like a laser on the economy!

Maybe one of his $90+K/yr  calligraphers can make a budget template resembling the NCAA tournament brackets so he can fill out and submit one budget capable of getting at least one vote!

He's Baaack! Grayson: Paul Ryan wants Poor and Sick people to DIE!!

Posted by Brian

Dueling Morons
Current TV host John Fugelsang had Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) on to discuss the Paul Ryan budget plan on his program last night.  If you can get past the condescension dripping from Fugelsang's delivery, showing that he went to the Keith Olbermann school of journalistic integrity, he eventually introduces Grayson.
Alan Grayson, who is the poster boy for outlandish statements made by Democrats, likens the overhaul of Medicare, which Obama's own number crunchers say is on an "unsustainable" path, to the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War.  Fugelsang's response to this despicable comparison is an amused snort.
Grayson continues with his smears, saying that Ryan wants "people to work until they die", poor people to die, and "an America that consists of nothing but cheap labor for his corporate patrons".  Karl Marx couldn't have said it better himself!
Which is worse? The communist/leftist lies and propaganda being spewed by Grayson, or this guy Fugelsang, who apparently is trying to pass himself off as a journalist, who acts like a dummy with a bad dye job, sitting on the ventriloquist Grayson's lap?
Welcome back, Congressman Grayson! I look forward to more idiocy from you in the future to illustrate the moral and intellectual bankruptcy from those of you on the Progressive/Democrat side.

Even Obama's own GAO warns that current spending is "unsustainable."

Posted by Tom

Obama and his administration is full of hypocrisy.  Anyone with the most basic understanding of economics knows that our Country moves closer to insolvency each and every day.  He's already increased taxes on everyone across the board, in spite of campaign pledges to the contrary, but has yet to take any steps to cut spending!

Here's what he said about this very same problem back in 2006.....

(It seems he's fond of using children to sell his bill of goods... )

Now, even the Presidents own Government Account Office, a fact that seems to have gone almost unreported in the mainstream media, warns that we're on an unsustainable fiscal path.  I'm not surprised given the fact that on average, everyday we're adding $3,699,744,466.56 dollars to the National Debt.  This translated to an annual increase of $1,354,106,474,762.13 in new debt last year.  Current estimates for 2013 are at best the same, if not worse.  This means that every TAXPAYER in America is currently $145,877 dollars in debt!

GAO report number GAO-13-271R entitled 'Financial Audit: U.S. Government's Fiscal
Years 2012 and 2011 Consolidated Financial Statements' which was released on
January 17, 2013.
"Increased attention to risks that could affect the federal government’
s financial condition is made more important because of the nation’s
longer-term fiscal challenges. The comprehensive long-term fiscal
projections presented in the unaudited Required Supplementary
Information section of the 2012 Financial Report show that—absent
policy changes—the federal government continues to face an
unsustainable fiscal path. The oldest members of the baby-boom
generation are already eligible for Social Security retirement
benefits and for Medicare benefits. Under these projections, spending
for the major health and retirement programs will increase in coming
decades as more members of the baby-boom generation become eligible
for benefits and the health care cost for each enrollee increases.
Over the long term, the structural imbalance between spending and
revenue will lead to continued growth of debt held by the public as a
share of gross domestic product (GDP); this means the current
structure of the federal budget is unsustainable.

These projections, with regard to Social Security and Medicare, are
based on the same assumptions underlying the information presented in
the Statement of Social Insurance and assume that the provisions in
law designed to slow the growth of Medicare costs are sustained and
remain effective throughout the projection period. If, however, the
cost containment measures are not sustained over the long term—a
concern expressed by the Trustees of the Medicare trust funds, the
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Chief Actuary, the
Congressional Budget Office, and others—spending on federal health
care programs will grow much more rapidly. GAO also prepares long-term
federal fiscal simulations which continue to show debt rising as a
share of GDP.

Obama Will Miss Budget Deadline Again! 4th Time in 5 Years

Posted by Brian

Damn! This math stuff is hard!
Obama continues to thumb his nose at the law and the Constitution.
For the forth time in five years, Obama will fail to meet the deadline required by law for President's to submit a budget to Congress.  Not that it will make much of a difference this time around.  Every budget that has been submitted to Congress by Obama has failed to garner a single vote in the Senate.
Is it not logical to deduce that Barack Obama, for all of his lofty rhetoric on balancing the budget, cutting spending, and getting our fiscal house in order, fails to take any responsibility when it comes to his vision of what he wants to see in a budget, let alone getting one submitted within the legal deadline.  Even his own Party is aware of the flippancy of his budgets.  For Christ's sake, he has an admitted socialist in the Senate who can't bring himself to vote for one of these.
It's apparent to me that Obama does this so as to have plausible deniability where spending increases and tax raises are concerned.  "I didn't ask for that", he can say.  I, I, I told them to work together and, and send me something I can sign, but, but the Republicans continue to stand in the way of progress, uh, holding the American people hostage with their, uh, stubbornness in refusing to work with the Democrat leaders".
This is calculated to create the next budget crisis, where we will once again see the Imperial President Obama, with the cover of the mainstream media, go back on the campaign trail to demonize the Republicans over their inability to "get the job done", when in fact, the job has been his all along.

White House tells Paul Ryan it won’t meet budget deadline
By Erik Wasson - 01/14/13 12:06 PM ET

The White House has informed House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) that it will miss the legal deadline for sending a budget to Congress.

Acting Budget Director Jeff Zients told Ryan (R-Wis.) in a letter late Friday that the budget will not be delivered by Feb. 4, as required by law.

In the letter, Zients says the administration is "working diligently on our budget request." The letter blames the late passage of the “fiscal cliff” deal for the delay, saying that because tax and spending issues were not resolved until Jan. 2, "the administration was forced to delay some of its FY 2014 budget preparations, which in turn will delay the budget's submission to Congress."

"We will submit it to Congress as soon as possible," Zients writes.

Limp Boehner Caves...Again! Conservatives Blast GOP Leaders

Posted by Brian

Well that didn't take long.  John Boehner and the House GOP leaders blinked before the President and the Dems even started staring them down.
Folks, John Boehner and the GOP leadership is an unmitigated disaster.  Ever since election night, these idiots have misread the results.  They are blaming the loss on everything except the fact that over three million voters stayed home. Three million conservative voters.  These voters stayed home due to the fact that Romney, rightly so, was not conservative.  Every election cycle we hear of how we need to put up a candidate who can reach the "middle".  To these wizards, this means a "moderate" candidate.  Nearly every time the GOP does this, they get their butts handed to them. Ford, Bush I, Dole, McCain, and now Romney.  The problem isn't that the message is too conservative, it's that it's not conservative enough!
Now we have Boehner and the rest of these statist Republicans telling Americans that they are going to expand government, but at a slower rate than the Democrats.
John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and the rest of the current GOP leadership need to be removed from their positions of power and marginalized.
Whether it's Jim DeMint, or some other conservative in Congress, a coalition has to be put together by them to purge this cancer that has infected the modern day GOP.

Boehner tax increase sparks conservative backlash
By Seth McLaughlin - The Washington TimesDecember 4, 2012, 10:57PM

Sen. Jim DeMint, a tea party favorite, ripped House Republican leaders for offering a budget framework that embraced new taxes, saying the GOP plan to raise $800 billion in new revenue would hurt the economy, kill jobs and not reduce the national debt by a penny.

"This isn't rocket science," Mr. DeMint, South Carolina Republican, said. "Everyone knows that when you take money out of the economy, it destroys jobs, and everyone knows that when you give politicians more money, they spend it. This is why Republicans must oppose tax increases and insist on real spending reductions that shrink the size of government and allow Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money."

Obama's Latest Lie To Veterans

Posted by Brian

When it comes to lies and pandering, Barack Obama has balls as big as church bells.

Speaking to veterans, Obama said that there is no reason for cuts to defense if "Congress" could do their job.  Translation:  Those damn Republicans need to get the hell out of the way, let me do what I need to do to weaken the country, and get on with fundamentally changing the country to a socialist utopia.  Who in the hell do they think they are?! I'm Barack Obama!!

In another of his speeches to use veterans and the military for a photo-op backdrop, Obama says that Congress needs to come to a "balanced approach" that reduces the deficit and keeps the military strong.

What crap!  Barack Obama is interested in reducing the deficit and taking care of veterans only in the context of political posturing during an election year.  His administration has racked up $1 TRILLION plus deficits every year he has been in office!  All of a sudden he is a fiscal conservative? He has not submitted a single budget which has gotten even ONE vote in Congress - from Democrats or Republicans.  Harry Reid has not brought a single budget up for a Senate vote in nearly four years!  Obama and the Democrats have not been serious about spending, deficits, or the boosting the economy since he took office.  This is all smoke a mirrors. Election-year pandering.

Let's be clear about Barack Obama, and other leftists in Congress, like Reid, Pelosi, Rosa DeLauro: He neither likes, nor respects, the military, the people in it, or what he believes it stands for.  He, like all leftists, see the military only as a necessary evil, and as a projection of imperialism.  To him, military people are a bunch of warmongering rednecks who run around the world looking to shoot weapons and oppress others.  After all, they enlisted!  And, of their own free will!

If Barack Obama gave a crap about the military and our veterans, would he have proposed back in February that vets healthcare insurance costs increase by the following?

30 percent to 78 percent in Tricare annual premiums for the first year. After that, the plan will impose five-year increases ranging from 94 percent to 345 percent—more than 3 times current levels.

But, that isn't all.  As part of that same proposal, unionized DOD civilians plans are not touched!  Just the plans of our military men and women.

The Administration has admitted that the reason is to force military retirees out of TriCare and into ObamaCare!  There's your friggin' "Hope and Change" for any vet who supports this jack-wagon.  Nancy Pelosi said "we have to pass the bill so you can, uh, find out what's in it". So they passed it without reading the damn thing, and the more we find out what's in it, the more we find that it's a big sh*t sandwich!

So, while Obama and his Administration are out running commercials encouraging people to apply for food stamps and other government handouts, and over doubling the amount of people on food stamps alone(!), Obama would have people believe that the only place to cut the budget is one of the few things that is constitutionally mandated  the government provide - the military.  For you leftists out there, and I know it's hard to believe, welfare, food stamps and other government goodies are NOT constitutionally mandated.  And no, the "welfare clause" is not talking about governement welfare checks.  I don't care what your teacher or professor told you.  They're wrong.

The truth is, Obama is, once again, using the military as a political pawns for his benefit.  These are not the actions of a man who has respect and reverence for the men and women who willingly sacrifice themselves for something greater than themselves - something that Barack Obama has never done, not ever will.  His allegiance is only to himself.

Obama says Congress ought to avert year-end budget cuts
By REUTERS07/24/2012 00:23

RENO, Nevada - US President Barack Obama said on Monday that there was no reason billions in across-the-board federal budget cuts should occur at the end of this year, saying lawmakers in Congress ought to agree on a balanced plan to avoid the widely feared pinch.

In a speech to veterans, Obama said it was still possible to avert the pending cuts to defense and other areas that stem from a failure to reach a deal last year to reduce the federal deficit.

Debbie Was-A-Man Schultz says Reid's Refusal To Bring Budget To Floor "Simply Not True"

Posted by Brian
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: The face that launched a thousand lunches
The master prevaricator once again goes before the American public to spew lies and half-truths, while getting in her obligatory slam at the Republicans.

This woman is beyond despicable.  Wearing her arrogance on her sleeve like a badge of honor, she time and again goes before the cameras to spew leftist propaganda worthy of Josef Goebbels.

The fact is that a budget has not come out of the Senate in over three years.  Harry Reid, the President and the Democrats have not brought forward a serious budget during the three-plus years that Obama has been in office.  Of the two budgets that the President has submitted, which were not worth the paper they were written on, neither one got a singe vote for passage.  Nada. Not even one vote!

"Simply not true", Debbie?  You wouldn't know the truth if it smacked you in the ass on your way out of office.

Paul Ryan: America Deserves A Better Path

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin previews next week's FY2013 budget proposal.

You know, I was here -- in Congress -- in 2008 when we had the economic crisis. It was a terrible time. Millions of people lost their jobs. Trillions of dollars of wealth: gone.

That crisis caught us by surprise.

Let me ask you a question: what if your President, your Senator and your Congressman knew it was coming? What if they knew when it was going to happen, why it was going to happen and more importantly, what if they knew what they needed to do to stop it from happening and they had the time to stop it? But they chose to do nothing about it, because it wasn't good politics?

What would you think of that person? It would be immoral.

This coming debt crisis is the most predictable crisis we've ever had in this country. And look what's happening.

This is why we're acting. This is why we're leading. This is why we're proposing - and passing out of the House - a budget to fix this problem: so we can save our country for ourselves and our children's future.

Obama proposes $800 million in aid for "Arab Spring"
By Susan Cornwell WASHINGTON | Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:39pm EST (Reuters) -

The White House announced plans on Monday to help "Arab Spring" countries swept by revolutions with more than $800 million in economic aid, while maintaining U.S. military aid to Egypt.  In his annual budget message to Congress, President Barack Obama asked that military aid to Egypt be kept at the level of recent years -- $1.3 billion -- despite a crisis triggered by an Egyptian probe targeting American democracy activists.

The proposals are part of Obama's budget request for fiscal year 2013, which begins October 1. His requests need the approval of Congress, where some lawmakers want to cut overseas spending to address U.S. budget shortfalls and are particularly angry at Egypt.

OUTRAGE: Feds Spend $1.6 Million to Restore “La Raza” Murals Celebrating “Aztlan” and Che Guevara

Natl. Debt Under Obama Doubles In One Term - More Than G. Washington - G.W. Bush Combined!

Trillions Is For Astronomy!

Remember when the word "trillion" used to be by spoken only when speaking in terms of things in astronomy?  We as humans have a hard time wrapping our heads around a number that big.  Even when talking about distances between galaxies and solar systems, trillions was still a number that was just soooo big.  To make it easier, astronomers started speaking in terms of "light years", just so the miles number didn't freak people out.  It made the universe a little cozier.  One hundred light years just sounds a lot closer than 600 trillion miles.  It's just too many zeros to keep straight in your head.  So, the fact that Obama's budgets will have added $6 trillion dollars to the debt in just 4 years leads to, I believe, a lot of Americans who can't even conceive of that.  When politicians were talking of running deficits of  hundreds of billions of dollars during Bush, the American people got pissed, and rightly so.  Now they speak of deficits that are $1.2 trillion more than Bush's, 4 times greater, and many just shrug.  It is so big that it's not real.  It's like monopoly money to them.  But the fact is, is that it is real, and Obama and the Democrats are pushing the United States over the precipice and into the abyss, unless conservative Republicans stand firm in opposing any new spending.  Any spending budget should be a 5:1 cuts to spending ratio, with across the board cuts in tax rates of 50% minimum, and includes a 2-year moratorium on capital gains taxes, just to kick-start the economy.
The thing is, do the entrenched GOP elite have the cojones to do even half of that?

The Democrats' Big Government Breakout

By Peter Ferrara on 6.1.11 @ 6:08AM

Historic battle lines are being drawn in the budget battle in Washington that too few understand. The Democrats are supporting an unprecedented breakout of Big Government taxes and spending. The Republicans are trying to draw the line at the stable level of federal taxes and spending relative to the economy that has prevailed throughout the postwar era up until now, and provided the foundation for the dominating postwar American prosperity.

At stake is whether the prosperity of the American Dream that has drawn millions to these shores over the years will endure. Or whether America will settle into permanent decline, a fading shadow of its former self. Is that the future you want to raise your family in? Is that the legacy you want to leave your children or grandchildren?

President still wants to tax and spend his way to prosperity

EDITORIAL: Obama’s honesty deficit
By THE WASHINGTON TIMES - The Washington Times

President Obama outlined what he called a framework for deficit reduction Wednesday. It was a tacit admission that his 2012 budget submission did not go far enough. That shows Republicans succeeded in seizing the initiative with their own comprehensive, pro-growth proposal to restore America’s solvency. Mr. Obama’s flimsy “me, too” smacks of desperation.

The White House describes its latest plan as “comprehensive” and “pro-growth” but that’s deceptive. The GOP used the phrases to describe House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s package of discretionary spending cuts, entitlement reforms and tax relief. Mr. Obama hijacked the words to describe a combination of illusory spending cuts and very real tax hikes. Worse, Mr. Obama’s so-called deficit-reduction plan includes a laundry list of spending increases needed to “win the future.” The priorities in the president’s WTF strategy are windmills and solar panels, “high-speed” Amtrak and trolleys, federalized education and Pell Grants.

House GOP Needs Leadership Capable Of Playing Hardball With Obama

Posted by Brian

Now that the dust has settled, and the GOP establishment media have stopped falling all over themselves to slap Boehner on the back over his "victory" in the budget battle, details are emerging which confirm what many of us knew all along - Boehner got rolled.

Let's forget that Boehner went back on the GOP's promise to cut $100 billion from the budget, then $61 billion, finally telling us that they got Obama and the Democrats to "come up" to $38.5 billion. The reality is this:  Boehner lied through his teeth.  He lied to the country.  Worse, he lied to the ones who put him where he is - the Tea Party and conservatives.

The first sign that something was wrong was when stories started to trickle out, starting with Mark Levin being interviewed by Neil Cavuto, that accounting tricks put the cuts at much less than the $38.5 billion being touted, starting with $10 billion carried over from the previous continuing resolution touted on this resolution.  Worse, almost none of these cuts are included in the current fiscal year, which ends September 30, and will amount to only $352 million! For Boehner to go out and claim victory is a slap in the face to every American.  This is the kind of crap we expect from Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and the Democrats.  It's in their DNA.  But, when the GOP is this tone-deaf to what the voters said in November, it shows that there are a lot of Republicans that need to be shown the door in 2012, as well.

What Happened?

Boehner may be the worst poker player in the world.  No trip to to Vegas and the World Series Of Poker for this guy. He would get cleaned out at the neighborhood nickle-ante game.  Who takes the only hole card that they have and throws it face up on the table?  This is what Boehner did when he told Obama, the Democrats, and the rest of the world that the Republicans would not shut down the government.  This was the only leverage that he had.  He folded his hand before the game even started.

The supposed negotiations with Obama and Reid were apparently strategy meeting to see how much of the status quo could be maintained, how they could cook the books, and to come up with a statement that Boehner could deliver with a straight face to the public.

Boehner and House Whip Eric Cantor are not doing what the Tea Party, conservatives and millions of other Americans asked them to do when they sent Republicans to sweeping victories in November, and which gave Boehner and Cantor their respective positions.  They are not solving the budget problems that they were entrusted with.  They are now part of the problem.

GOP House and Senate leaders have not only been weak, but some have been hostile to the voters that put them there, joining Democrats in calling them "extreme".  Well, some of them may find out how extreme we really are come 2012 - when they find themselves out on their asses.
