Conservative Hispanic Groups Targeted In IRS Scandal
By Andrew O'Reilly Published May 16, 2013 Fox News Latino
The Internal Revenue Service scandal involving the apparently unjustified targeting of Tea Party and other conservative groups has also hit home with the Hispanic community.
George Rodriguez, former president of the San Antonio Tea Party, said that when the organization applied for non-profit status, leaders were intimidated by IRS workers with excessive paperwork and meddling questions.
“They asked us all sorts of things that were out of the norm,” Rodriguez, now head of the conservative South Texas Alliance, told Fox News Latino. “We knew these questions were not the norm and we had our suspicions about them.”

Adam Carolla Skewers CA Lt. Gov for Enabling Racial Stereotypes
Posted by Brian
Adam Carolla and California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsome had a heated exchange on Carolla's radio show when Newsome infered that Blacks and Hispanics were at a disadvantage when it comes to living in poverty, claiming that they don't have access to checking accounts or ATM's.
Carolla then asked why it was that these two particular minority groups, but not Asian's, Jews or even Armenian's don't have the same issues, though they too have endured hardships, including internment (Japanese-Americans), and the Holocaust (Jews).
You can practically hear Newsom squirming in his chair as Carolla confronts him on his pandering to these specific minority groups.

Charlie Rangel Accused Of Disenfranchising Hispanic Voters
Posted by Brian
Ethically-challenged "Good Time" Charlie Rangel may be in more hot water. On the heels of what looked like a close primary victory in Rangel's longtime Harlem district, he is now being accused of orchestrating shenanigans which did not allow Hispanic voters in his upper Manhatten/Bronx district to receive ballots, told they were not on the voter rolls, or failing to provide assistance to non-english speaking constituents.
Rangel, who has been vocal in his opposition to voter ID laws, claiming they would disenfranchise blacks and Hispanics, is now embroiled in a scandal in which the disenfranchisement claim is based on the appearance, or accent, of the voter.
Whatever happened to the "content of their character, and not the color of their skin", Charlie?

Claiming voter suppression, a national Dominican American organization and state Sen. Adriano Espaillat are demanding the Department of Justice monitor the high-stakes ballot count in Espaillat’s bid to unseat longtime Rep. Charles Rangel.
The Dominican American National Roundtable yesterday called on the feds to “investigate whether access to the ballot was denied or suppressed for Latino/Dominican voters in the Democratic Primary for the 13th Congressional District.

Holder Justice Dept. Calls TX Voter ID Law Discriminatory
Posted by Brian
The Holder Justice Department is once again trampling on state's rights. True to form, the argument is that requiring voters to prove their identity before voting will disenfranchise minorities in disproportionate numbers. In this case it is Hispanic voters who they say will be affected, as registered Hispanic voters are more than twice as likely to to not have a photo ID.
Well, why might that be? Mmm? How many of the registered voters who do not have valid ID should actually be ineligible to vote (not legal citizens). It shouldn't matter who the person registering is, what their ethnicity or race: to ensure fair elections a person should have to prove that they are the person listed on the registration rolls.
For being the first post-racial administration, race seems to factor into nearly everything that the Holder Justice Department does.
Justice Dept opposes Texas voter ID law

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department's civil rights division on Monday objected to a new photo ID requirement for voters in Texas because many Hispanic voters lack state-issued identification.
Texas is the second state in recent months to become embroiled in a court battle with the Justice Department over photo ID requirements for voters.
The Justice Department said Texas officials failed to show that the newly enacted law has neither a discriminatory purpose nor effect.

Majority Leader Harry Reid's suggestion that the job of Florida Senator Marco Rubio is to represent Hispanics nationally raised some eyebrows this morning.
“In Nevada, [ambassadorial nominee Mari Carmen Aponteis seen by the Puerto Rican community, the Hispanic community, as really somebody who is an up-and-rising star. … I just think it’s a mistake for someone who is supposedly representing Hispanic issues to do what [Rubio] has done,” Reid told POLITICO's Glenn Thrush.
