Ah, the mind of the totalitarian statist. Senator Diane Feinstein, in response to an amendment to her bill to ban firearms, managed to insult every American veteran who has served.
Sen. John Cornyn proposed an amendment to her bill that would add retired veterans to the list of individuals exempt from her ban. What followed next was not only despicable, but by any measure, showed her total lack of knowledge of those who serve in the military.
Feinstein responded to Cornyn with this:

As I understand our bill, no issue has arose in this regard during the 10 years the expired ban was effect… and what we did in the other bill was exempt possession by the United States or a department or agency of the United States… that included active military. The problem with expanding this is that you know with the advent of PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War, it’s not clear how the seller or transferrer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a veteran, and that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this. So you know I would be happy to sit down with you again and see if we could work something out but I think we have to — if you’re going to do this, find a way that veterans who are incapacitated for one reason or another mentally don’t have access to this kind of weapon.
First of all Madame Senator, PTSD is not a "new phenomenon". Military fighting men and women have exhibited "battle fatigue", and "shell shock"long before the Iraq War came about. Millions of Vietnam, Korean, and WWI/II vets have all dealt with the horrors of battle, and the vast majority have shown themselves to be more than capable of the responsibility of owning any number of different types of firearms. Moreover, I argue that veterans as a rule are more responsible and show greater restraint with firearms than those have never served, due to the fact that many have seen firsthand the consequences of pulling that trigger. Many have come back to serve as Police Officers , or in the FBI, Border Patrol, and other law enforcement capacities. Your assertion that vets coming back from battle are somehow mentally defective is not only insulting, it is irresponsible.
The event at Sandy Hook Elementary, which launched your latest crusade, was tragic. But, it was not carried out by a military vet. Nor were the following: Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, Colorado, Phoenix (Gabby Giffords), Amish School House murders. The vast majority of mass shooting are committed by people who never served in the military. Furthermore, the vast majority of mass shootings in the U.S., including the one at Sandy Hook, were not committed with the so-called "assault weapons" you propose banning, but with semi-automatic handguns (LINK).
Senator Feinstein's legislation is just another attempt by those on the left to exploit a tragedy for the express purpose of subjugating the Constitutional rights of Americans. That she does it this time by denigrating the men and women who have served to defend those rights for ALL Americans, is beyond despicable.
Senator, you owe all of the men and women who have ever served this great country of ours an apology!

Today, Diane Feinstein introduced a Bill that would Ban the Sale, Manufacture, Importation or Transfer of more than 157 different firearms, many of which are used for legitimate sporting purposes and competitive events....but make politicians exempt from it!

slide action; and weapons used by government officials (read: politicans), law enforcement and retired law enforcement personnel." These people have some nerve...Disarm the honest citizens and keep themselves safe. When will American wake up and say ENOUGH is ENOUGH?!?!
Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to begin his propaganda tour across the United States to sell the American people the poison fruit.
Here is a brief summary what this ban would require:
Ban any magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rounds
Require that any rifle or magazine owned by law abiding citizens be engraved with the date of manufacture. (impossible to ascertain in many cases)
Ban various types of firearm accessories.
Ban sporting semi-automatic shotguns that contains any of the following characteristics: Folding or telescoping stock, pistol grip, fixed magazine of more than 5 round capacity or a forward mounted grip.
Ban any Rifle or Handgun with a fixed magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds.
Requires an undefined, so called "Safe Storage" requirement for gun owners.
The Bill would ensure that no rifle, handgun or shotgun contained within can be handed down to the next generation of your family, effectively ensuring that future generations do not have the ability to adequately defend themselves or their families during their times of greatest need.
The Second Amendment was not designed to protect "Duck Hunters," as Sen Feinstein suggested in her presentation on Capitol Hill. I for one don't need politicians, judges or attorneys to tell me what the 2nd Amendment means. You can practically set you're watch by it. A crazed gunman, mentally unstable or just your average run of the mill antisocial piece of s*it, shoots up a mall, school or movie theatre. It's only a matter of hours or days before every left-wing nut with a microphone is calling for banning assault weapons.
So it is with Democrat Senator's Mark Warner and Joe Manchin who are calling for exactly that. This is political opportunism at its very worst.
Never mind the fact that the gunman may or may not have even used a so-called assault weapon. In the case of the shooter in Connecticut, the guy used a pistol. That doesn't matter though. The fact that he left an assault weapon in his vehicle is reason enough for their knee-jerk reaction to every one of these kinds of attacks. It's the weapon that's at fault, not the gunman. We are supposed to try to understand the reasons behind why this person would commit such a heinous act.
Here's the reason. Are you ready for it? Because they're evil bastards. You can call it mentally unstable. Probably true. You can blame it on a less than satisfactory childhood. LOTS of people have bad childhoods. But, they don't go out and shoot up an elementary school. Many of them probably have access to weapons. But at some level, they have a religious or moral belief that prevents them from doing something like that. In fact, the thought doesn't even enter their minds.
For the individuals who do this type of thing have lost their soul, and probably a long time before they committed the act. But we as a society are now told that religion and all of its strict rules and "commandments" are so passe'. It's all a bunch of ancient superstition meant to control people. I mean, who believes in "Thou shall not murder", or"Honor thy mother and father". How about "Do not covet", for all of you who are pissed off at those who are wealthy, and want the government to redistribute some of their stuff to you? As we allow schools and the government to teach our children that there is no abberant behavior, sexual deviancy, and that those who are backwards enough to believe in a power greater than ourselves (some of us call him GOD) are somehow intolerant, and bigots. I give you 20 dead elementary school children, and eight dead adults.
It wasn't the gun that did it. It was the soulless man who valued neither his, nor anyone else's life.

Obama's Attorney General Eric Holder, along with former AG Janet Reno and others wrote the Amicus Brief (read the entire brief here) in the Supreme Court of "District Of Columbia v Heller", a landmark case which on the individual's right to keep and bear arms. In the brief signed on to by Holder were the following arguments:

This is a President and an Attorney General who do NOT believe in the founding principles, or agree with them.
